Orange Amplifiers Micro Crush PiX 3 Watt Amp Review

Orange Amplifiers Micro Crush PiX 3 Watt Amp
Average Reviews:

I bought this with pretty low expectations and I must honestly say, I am BLOWN AWAY! This little amp makes a big sound! The distortion on this little sucker shreds. I cranked it up last night and was playing a little Children of the grave, it was amazing. Without the headphones, it is not too loud but still sounds awesome for a portable, battery powered amplifier. I highly recommend you purchase this if you are looking for a great, portable practice amp. Orange has done a great job with this little box. If I lost this, I would certainly buy another right away.

SoundTech STAMP3 AMP3 Guitar Amp - Portable Music Station Review

SoundTech STAMP3 AMP3 Guitar Amp - Portable Music Station

I found this to be a nice flexible little unit that works equally well as an MP3 amp as it does with my electric ukelele. My three sons have given it thorough going over, so it must be fairly sturdy. The distortion options are fun, and its perfect for around the house. Tried it at a gig this weekend, however, and it just doesn't have the muscle to compete with anything more substantial.

Vox Amplug Cabinet Review

Vox Amplug Cabinet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love the sound this thing gives - I use my metal amplug and it sounds great at a very low volume. My knock with it is the wire that runs from the unit and plugs into the amplug wasn't soldered well at all. Any bump and the amp will cut out - and you have ti wiggle it to get it to come back, sometimes you really have to jerk the wire around to get the sound back. The other issue is that there's no access to this wire on the inside to fix it yourself unless you gut the insides. Parts are glued in front of where the connections are so you can't get to them to resolder unless you basically break the unit.
Bottom line - great sound - crappy build - even at this price they could have done a better job soldering that wire. I can't decide if I should risk buying another one to see if they are all like that or maybe just break this one down and fix it and not worry about what it looks like after I do that.

I have the lunch box amp, I just wanted to add a little more bottom and if this makes sense a fuller, robuust sound. I also liked the amp so much the thought of maing a Mini Stack was irresistable. I works great, is light, and does not add too much wieght to my over all rig. I have actually used it with my Mesa Trans Atlantic and found it to be quite versatile. An A/B Switch coudl really open up a lot of tonal possibilities. Great product. not a gimmick, does the job well!

The ZT Lunchbox Cab is built on the platform of our highly acclaimed Lunchbox amplifier. It\'s a Lunchbox without the amp\'a passive extension speaker, with the same solid-as-a-brick cabinet housing the same custom-design 6.5" driver used in the Lunchbox amp.Weighing less than 7 pounds, the Cab can blast out over 120dB, and sounds great doing it. The Cab also features a phase switch to provide accuracy in any situation.Connect the Cab to the Lunchbox amp\'s external speaker output and build a Lunchbox stack (it\'s adorable\'like ferocious puppies or kittens!). Or spread them apart a few feet to create spatial imaging. Epiphone Valve Jr. Junior Supreme Mod Kit Review

Epiphone Valve Jr. Junior Supreme Mod Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great modification for an Epiphone Valve Jr. If you have never done something like this before, you might want to practice your soldering skills first. You will need a 25 to 30 watt soldering iron, and a solder sucker. Radio Shack sells just what you need - a sucker with a red bulb that works perfectly. Fromel's instructions are not terribly clear, and I would make sure you have exactly what is supposed to come in the package (there is a chart on the instructions - take the time to figure them out). The Epi Jr is very easy to disassemble, but you will definitely need an Exacto type knife to cut through (take your time) some of the glue that is used to secure some of the components to the board. After I figured everything out in the instructions, I removed and replaced one component at a time. There are suggestions and videos on YouTube on the internet for techniques on how to remove and install capacitors and resistors from a circuit board, but if you can practice on something that has no value (if you have no experience), I would try that first. Remember, soldering irons and suckers only work from the back side, not the side with all the components!
When I got it all done and put things back together, (I also replaced the stock tubes with Mullard Reissue tubes) it sounded AMAZING! More power and tone, and you can really tell. Also less hiss in the background. My only suggestion would be for Fromel to update and clarify the directions. It is not so scary as it seems. Just remember, if your amp is under warranty, doing this voids it so you are on your own if something goes wrong.

Unleash the tone of your Epiphone Valve Jr. The Valve Jr is quickly becoming one of the best selling tube amps, it has pretty good tone and the price is right. However, these amps can tend to be a bit noisy and sound a bit thin. After these mods your amp will sound fantastic, with less noise and be more reliable. After these mods the tone will rival that of boutique amps costing many times more. Your Epiphone Valve Jr may be small in size but it doesn't need to sound small. This kit works for all versions of the Valve Jr. Both the Head and the Combo.Included in the kit is all the components necessary to get your amp in top shape and the detailed instructions to make the changes easy. If you have a basic understanding of electronics and soldering skills you can do these mods in less than an hour.WARNING: Performing these modifications WILL void the warranty on your amplifier. Working on amps can be deadly if you do not take proper precautions. Follow these instructions very carefully. If you are at all unsure of your ability to perform these modifications STOP and take your amp to a professional to be modified. You can also send your amp to me for modification. No Warranty: This kit and the instructions included do not include any warranty of any kind. The modifications to your amplifier are at your own risk and you agree to completely hold harmless the seller of this kit against any and all claims. Tube amplifiers contain parts that operate at very high temperatures and deadly voltages. If you are not sure of your abilities to perform these modifications then do not perform them.

ZT Club 200-watt 1x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier Review

ZT Club 200-watt 1x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I expect a lot out of my amps... and this amp has yet to let me down. As of this review's posting, I have run the following instruments into this amp: guitar, bass, vocals, synths, electric oud, digital tanpura, electric sitar, drums machines, digital piano, and a mp3 players. This amp has yet to let me down with delivering the goods. It's fallen off the stage, been kicked by people, bounced around the pack of a truck, sat on, stepped on... basically used and abused. Currently, mine has seen ~ 30 gigs, countless hours of rehearsals and yet continues to impress.
The amp is loud without being raspy or painful. It's a BIG sound when turned up - to be sure. A few gigs, where a PA was not available for all the amps, I ran the Club 12 at full throttle - no problems. The reverb has a natural sound to it too.
Overall, I'm very happy and impressed with this amp. Highly recommended for musicians of all types.

Fender Mini '57 Twin-Amp Review

Fender Mini '57 Twin-Amp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like to practise my rock and blues late at night and do not want to upset my wife and kids, so I tried a Pocket Rock-it, but found it to crack and snap, very annoying. So I found this affordable option and I am very pleased with the sound. It is only for quiet practise, or as I use it more often, for use with a set a headphones. The required 9v battery is still working after a month of use, probably 15 hours. It sounds great, and for the money there is nothing else out there.
The only suggestion I would have is to provide an option for a mini-jack for headphones so an adapter to the 1/4" receptacle is not needed. But I would definitely highly recommend it for anyone that has similar needs to mine.

AGA70 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier Review

AGA70 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I can only guess that the newness of this product accounts for the relative lack of online reviews at this time. Although I have been impressed with the relatively inexpensive Crate acoustic guitar amps, I'm doubtful that you can find a better sub-$500 acoustic amp than the Vox AGA70. There is ample tone control on each of the two channels, via 3-band EQ and an additional "Color" knob. One of the two channels contains a tube pre, which provides additional warmth to either guitar or vocal. The 70-watt capacity with 6.5" driver provides enough sound for many of the smaller venues I play; if not, the DI on the back allows for output to the soundboard. My workhorse acoustic guitar, which has an older and not-so-impressive under-the-bridge pickup, never sounded as good "plugged up" as when ran into this amplifier. My only complaints, still minimal, are the complete lack of vintage appearance (except for chickenhead knobs) and the use of a softer cloth grill rather than a hard grill. Without an accessory cover, I'm not sure how long this will hold up through regular loading and unloading.

The ideal acoustic amplifier. Each channel offers both Guitar and Mic inputs with selectable phantom power; High/Low switches and clip indicators assure proper gain matching. In addition to a three-band EQ, each channel is equipped with a Color knob, providing convenient overall tone shaping. Reverb depth and Chorus selection is also independent per channel. The anti-feedback control prevents on-stage mishaps. Use the AGA70 as self-contained amplifier or as a personal monitor by feeding the balanced XLR output into any sound system - or even a multitrack recorder. The handy All Mute switch leaves just the Tuner output live for silent tuning.

Mini Portable Electric Guitar Practice Amplifier Review

Mini Portable Electric Guitar Practice Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had this mini amp for a while (including an earlier version still in great condition) and I'm happy with them. I bought one and plan to buy more for gifts the price is great. Very convenient. The sound is great. It is built durable. Fits a Strat, Les Paul, ES-335 etc. no problem with model type. The battery (9 volt) lasts a long time. Turn the volume down the sound is clean. Turn the volume up - the sound starts to get raunchy - you know - you get the overdrive/distortion/fuzz - bluesy, metal sound with the touch of your guitar volume knob, really convenient. You get clean and overdrive sound without a sound effect box.
What I love of this ampuplugnplay amp you connect this little amp directly to your guitar input plug - NO GUITAR CORD NEEDED AT ALL! I can move around the house with no problem or sit on my sofa/couch or chair relax and play with ease.
Believe me folks I've never seen a little amp made this way and sound so good. And I'm in my mid 50s and been playing since the early '70s I've seen them all (amps, gadgets and all).
Another thing you don't need one of those Micro Watt small amps to get an overdriven sound (you know turn your amp way up) this little amp does it easy by turning the guitar volume knob up and IT WON'T BOTHER YOUR NEIGHBORS. The sound is not overly loud to get that sound to bother anyone in the house or outside, great.
This is one purchase I made and I have no regrets about it, and if the makers of this amp come up with another improved model - I'm buying one for myself.

Marshall MS4 Mini Micro Full Stack Battery Amplifier Review

Marshall MS4 Mini Micro Full Stack Battery Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although adorned with the Marshall logo, this little amp does not live up to the name it carries. While the clean channel sounds good at mid to low levels, the distortion, is just that; distorted, as your guitar will lose its identity when played a high levels. Although I only purchased this amp for $30, it does outplay most mini amps that I have used, but does not live up to the Marshall trademark. My advice is to save your $50 and by a good solid state combo amp such as crate or Randall (long live Dime).

Well.... You have probably heard a lot about ZT amps already right? This one(Lunchbox Acoustic)lives up to the ZT name and delivers! I tried it out with my brother, he was on guitar, I was singing. It was crankin'. We didn't have a drummer around at the time, but I think the volume would of been plenty loud enough to compete with your average drummer. No problem. The controls are straight forward and very usable. A lot of options on this little thing! Phantom power! Sweet! Reverb on both channels....etc...etc... I have talked to people who have said with a bigger speaker this amp really cranks! I have yet to try it, but with it's built-in 6.5" speaker I have no complaints! The portability factor alone is awesome! One thing I did notice, if you want a super clean sound, crank the gain up really loud and then use the volume for the overall "volume" of sound. This is an awesome amp!

Pignose 7-100 Legendary portable amplifier
Average Reviews:

Once, many years when lunch was half a loaf of fresh bread (baguette or ficelle) and a bottle of white wine, I lived in Paris (France) and my entire income was derived from playing a beaten up Strat (I wish I still had that guitar!) through a Pignose in the Metro. The sound was perfect, the subway provided georgeous reverb, and the tone was thrilling. I played well enough that the cops didn't move me on too much, and the skinheads that surrounded me, despite my fears as I was a long-haired hippie in those halcyon days, loved my my extended version of "red house" - I dragged it out to nine or ten minutes expecting to be beaten up at the end! They over-tipped and and cheered like a football (ok soccer) crowd. Here's the secret with pignose amps, you can create all sorts of different tones by opening and closing the door at different angles, and how the speaker is pointed is crucial in a reverberent room - or hall. Sadly I have a real job now, but still play - with a much larger and more expensive amp! http://beesdeluxe.com

Line 6 Micro Spider 6-Watt Battery-Powered Guitar Amplifier Review

Line 6 Micro Spider 6-Watt Battery-Powered Guitar Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Not a bad little amp - for what it is. VERY handy for portable practice, just got back from 2 weeks at the beach and it served wonderfully with my BluesHawk. Also turning out to be really convenient for quiet practice at home via headphones. Batteries (6Cs) and the included AC adapter both work fine. Built in tuner is convenient, it will get you real close at least.
I REALLY wish Line 6 would put (much) less emphasis on providing "Insane Rock Star Settings" - I guess its not hard to figure out their target audience, but come on - with only 5 amp models who really needs Crunch, Metal AND Insane?!? What about Blues (or even Twang)?...a model more for British/Classic Rock? Anyway, besides Clean, and a bit of Crunch, I do appreciate the inclusion of Acoustic mode for my Martin, which was a major reason I picked this amp over other similiar battery-capable ones (the other being that it's Line 6 as is my SV112 & Pocket Pod so functionality is familiar). Hmmm...but if it is for "portable practice", with an acoustic would one bother with an amp at all? Still, the choice is there for 'normal' practice situations.
Unfortunately, the sound does suffer through headphones, and background hum/noise are especially more evident. The same headphones sound much nicer and cleaner on my PPod. However I do not get the 'ground loop noise' with my Gibsons as I typically do through my SV - which is very good.
I did not try the CD/MP3 input yet - though the idea of using this as a speaker for an IPod is cool - definitely will make use of that.
I had a Roland Micro Cube for a very shot time, and that also functioned well. The amp model choices there were much more useful (for me), and I do not recall the headphones bringing down the sound quality.

Vox amPlug Metal Guitar Headphone Amp Review

Vox amPlug Metal Guitar Headphone Amp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After reading about this gadget from a number of reliable sources, I went ahead and gambled the 40 ducats on it and couldn't be happier. The first time I popped this little doohicky into my Ibanez RG, plugged in the phones, maxed the gain and slowly raised the volume I was nearly slammed into the wall by forcefield of metal madness. I attacked the Phrygian scale then glided into my favorite riffs. Power chords: BANG! Who knew you could get such big amp sound out of this tiny plastic box?
Substitute a plain old minijack cable between the phones jack and anything with speakers and you have an improvised amp with sound as big as the remote speakers allow.
It also has a minijack auxiliary input so you can jam along to your iPod or PC output in virtually total silence. No more annoying neighbors banging on your walls when you get the urge to shred at 2:00 a.m.
It would be nice if there was some reverb on the device, but metal holds up well with big gain so I'm not complaining. The device also has a tendency to swing around while you play -- if you are a highly mobile shredder this might annoy you (but can easily be fixed with a bit of gaffers tape).
If you're on a budget or just want to jam loudly in peace, you could do much worse than this. Throw one in a gig bag with a set of decent phones (and an iPod if you want) and you may as well be carrying a pocket sized amp with you. Note also that this was designed for METAL -- it's all about the gain. If you are looking for something bluesy or some other wimpy sound, consider the other amPlugs.
