(More customer reviews)Seymour Duncan is known for making decent pick-ups for guitars, but this is not one of them. It may be hum-canceling, but it also extremely low, when it comes to output, and I experienced a lot of self-noise in the pick-up.
I have used it two different ways, both with the intention of recording acoustic guitar:
First I tried plugging it into a small tube-amplifier, which in turn was mic'ed up. There was no hum from the guitar, but the hiss of white noise made it completely useless. I ended up just putting the mic from the amp in front of the guitar instead.
Second, I tried plugging the Seymour Duncan straight into my pre-amp/recording setup. Again the noise was unbearable, and I ended up setting up another mic and playing in front of that.
In other words, I would not recommend this pick-up, if you intend to record acoustic guitar. It may be alright for live purposes, but be aware that its output is fairly low.

(More customer reviews)First off, I am an audio engineer in training, I recommend these pencil (cigar) condenser microphones to ANYONE. From live sound, to recording, to whatever. I only tried them on acoustic guitar (AB configuration) so far but they sound so warm and full. I've heard them on some drums as overheads and they sound pretty amazing, check out some videos on youtube. I bought them refurbished, but there's nothing wrong with them thankfully. Very little hiss. Plus, they get a 10 year warranty. Make sure you register BOTH microphones on rodemic.com since they have different serial numbers. Not sure what else to comment on other than these are great microphones at a great price. Can't go wrong with these in your microphone collection!

If you already have a ukulele, this is much less expensive than upgrading to an electric one. Great amplified sound, even with so-so ukuleles, and it works with any nylon-like ukulele strings.
We've played this through the Roland Micro Cube Guitar Amplifier- Black and the Roland Mobile Cube: Battery-Powered Stereo Amplifier. Sounds great.
This is very easy to install, but the included instructions aren't great. All you need is a power drill and 1/8 inch and 1/2-inch drill bits. Search on-line for one of the crystal-clear installation videos out there. (Be very careful handling the thing during installation. The piezo-to-wire connection looks very fragile, but this should be no problem once you finish the installation.)
(Oh. You'll also some sandpaper to sand down the saddle. It took more sanding work, but i replaced the old saddle with a Graphtech Tusq Acoustic Saddle Uke PQ-9250-00.)

LR Baggs Feedback Master Preamp Review

use of efficient circuit design delivers a clear,
transparent sound. This preamp doesn't color the
sound much.
The screws that attach the belt-clip to the outside
of the case are very short and apt to work lose.
They also, on my unit, caused the device to buzz
because they touched the metal on the inside. Some
kind of grounding problem I guess. My unit may
be defective but I never returned it to Baggs of
called them to ask about it. Instead, I just
removed the screws and have used the unit parked
on a table or on an amp... a lousy solution
admittedly, but at the time I was using this a
lot I was performing on a weekly basis and didn't
want to go without the unit while I returned it
to Baggs. I was pessimistic about the belt-clip
screw buzzing being a fixable issue at the time.
SO - it sounds great. It notch-filters feedback
admirably, but seems to have this design flaw that
made it inconvenient for me to use, even though
I put up with it for a few years.

I'm not a guitar person, so I don't know how to explain this but it won't keep a tune becaue the the neck doesn't have the metal bar to tighten. And when I asked about returns it would be ridiculous to pay to ship it back and then not receive my full money back. I don't trust the company enough to order another item but I would still have shipping and handling that I was out.
We have kept the guitar due to the financial burden. Thus far the crack in the neck hasn't broke.

Behringer ADI21 V-Tone Acoustic Review

(More customer reviews)I have a couple of $100-plus guitar pre-amps I use when
playing my flamenco guitar through an amplifier. For
that use, they work fine.
For recording to a desktop recording software however
the sound from my pre-amps just wasn't very good. In
fact, it sucked. I use a pickup-the-world film transducer -
which is an uncommon pickup but it sounds EXACTLY like
the guitar, picking up string-squeak, body taps (golpes)
and syllabant sounds inherent to the nylon-string guitar
but lost when using piezo pickups.
If you want a sound exactly like a microphone, use a
mic - but if you want something close out of a pickup,
give this a try.
I'm overjoyed at how full, balanced and rounded this
little box sounds. It is way sturdier than I expected
for the price. The plastic casing is so hefty you'd
think it was die-cast metal if it were colder to the
touch.
This is a stomp box, and built accordingly. The stomp
button is sturdy and separated adequately from the
rest of the controls, which have a stiffness to them
that will help them retain their settings when you
take it places. The printing which identifies the
controls is in poor-contrast and I have to pick up
the box and hold it close to my face to read the
labels. A minor gripe.
The sound of this little dream box allows me to plug
my guitar into it, then into my Firewire box and
get a good, usable signal. I have no onboard pre-amp
like a Fishman, only a jack because I prefer the external
battery and pre-amp approach for my hand-made (by me)
guitars.
I have only used a flamenco guitar through this box
so I cannot say if it sounds good with a steel string
acoustic. For the price, the sound is amazing. It
makes the signal richer, fatter, and sounds a lot
like a mic'd guitar.

Almost every guitar I broke is not right in some way (I gave 6 for Christmas) It doesn't hold a tune at all. Real bummer of a purchase.

Because they are pollished they are the only ones that I have found that don't give me that annoying finger noise as I slide my hand along the neck. Interesting story: When I took my new guitar back to the guy who made it for a checkup the only change he made was to remove the strings I had put on and put these on instead! The long and the short of it is I either have to use these strings or hide the guitar from Val (the guy who made it).
My one complaint is that the G string is wimpy. I usually replace it with another brand that has more power. Right now I have a Savarez plastic wound on nylon high tension (red card) G string. Its noticably louder than the D'Addario G string.

The sound was perfect, the subway provided georgeous reverb, and the tone was thrilling. I played well enough that the cops didn't move me on too much, and the skinheads that surrounded me, despite my fears as I was a long-haired hippie in those halcyon days, loved my my extended version of "red house" - I dragged it out to nine or ten minutes expecting to be beaten up at the end! They over-tipped and and cheered like a football (ok soccer) crowd. Here's the secret with pignose amps, you can create all sorts of different tones by opening and closing the door at different angles, and how the speaker is pointed is crucial in a reverberent room - or hall. used it at a performance, that skepticism faded. I use this amp for solo bar and
club gigs. The sound is so crisp and clean that it is almost as if I somehow just
increased the volume on my acoustic guitar.
The Mic input is very handy, making this the only piece necessary for a small/medium
gig. As someone who likes to add a bit of reverb to the vocals, the effects library
is also quite nice.
Something else worthy of note...the fact that this piece can be cocked back to face
upward on an angle makes a world of difference, allowing the sound to travel upward
so that it is not muted by peoples' feet. By which I mean, it is not always
necessary to elevate the amp to be sure the sound is distributed correctly.

It was sort of a "reality check" to see if anything sounded good enough to perform -- I'm still working on that part. The pickup was a pleasant surprise. It fit the sound hole perfectly though the cable is prone to getting in the way (that's the reason for the 4 stars). It's quite an experience to hear yourself "plugged in" for the first time. I'd recommend this pick-up to anyone who uses an plain acoustic and want to record or amplify their guitar. It's a good name brand, nice price, and of good quality constuction. I didn't experience and distortion or feedback problems and so far, the neighbors haven't complained either.

Taylor ES Go Pickup for GS Mini Review

(More customer reviews)The Taylor ES Go Pickup was easy to install on my Taylor Mini, I did it myself. The sound quality is very good on my Roland AC60 acoustic amp, plenty loud. However, there is a slight hiss sound that I understand can happen with a single coil pickup??? I'm not that tech savvy so don't quote me on that. The hiss isn't that loud so I'm keeping it. My Taylor 814ce doesn't have this sound on the Roland amp, but what can you expect for the price difference! Also, I tried the Taylor V-Cable 250 For the Mini guitar to be able to have a volume control and it did not work at all in two amps so I returned that and use a regular guitar cable. The Taylor Mini is great, this pickup is good, especially for the price.

This ROS-647 model is identical to the 627 model except for some extra "bling" in the form of hand inlaid abalone. Normally the 647 is $200 or so more than the 627. Thus amazon has an awesome price on this guitar. Unless you don't want a flashy guitar, it's a no brainer to get this over the ROS-627.
The first guitar I was sent had a crack in the back. I couldn't tell if this was a crack in the wood or the lacquer. Either way, I sent it back. Unfortunately amazon made me pay the postage, but I expect to be re-imbursed. Rather than wait for a replacement I requested a refund and ordered a second guitar. The second one was perfect, though it did need a little humidification as the frets were a bit sharp. I recommend picking up an oasis case insert (I don't trust the ones that go in the guitar) for the winter months.
The guitar is beautiful, so beautiful in fact that I'm planning on getting a wall-hanger for it to use when the humidity gets better. It also sounds great too! I'm pretty much a novice to the guitar, but I have played the violin for many years (I got a guitar recently as my infant son seem to really like guitar music/singing) so I know a little bit about how wood should sound and it sounds great. I think this is a fine guitar for all levels of players, but is an especially good deal for an amateur guitarist like me. Honestly, I don't see myself ever needing another guitar in this style as this one should last me forever. However, god forbid something should happen to it (my infant son knocks it over, etc.), it's nice to know it isn't a $3,000 guitar. In fact I don't think I could really enjoy a Martin (or alternately a Huss and Dalton, as I really like those) the way I'd like as I'd be so scared of damaging it. One thing to note is that getting a case for it is a little difficult. A standard OOO sized case will not fit this guitar. In fact I was unable to find a case that worked for sale on Amazon. However, I did find a "guardian" brand 12-fret OOO case on another site.
