This product does wonders for a tube guitar amplifier. It permits great amp sound at reduced sound amplitude.

The THD Hot Plate Attenuator is a power attenuator and noise reducer that lets you attain the incredible sound of your amp running at high output and full distortion but at recording, small club, and neighbor-friendly volumes. It also makes a perfect dummy load.A power attenuator is simply a device placed between the speaker output and the speaker cabinet. It acts like a huge master volume control and permits the amp to be turned up most or all the way while absorbing most of the power generated by the amplifier and turning this power into heat. It passes a small part of the power to the speaker.Designed for use strictly with vacuum tube guitar amplifiers, each version of the Hot Plate is optimized for a specific impedance. These inductive loads are frequency-compensated, which means you get the best possible sound for that impedance speaker and amplifier combination. Plus the Hot Plate is no simple power attenuator. It offers many capabilities that make it a great addition to any tone-hungry player\'s arsenal.Built-in Noise ReductionThe THD Hot Plate is the only attenuator on the market with built-in noise reduction to reduce the hiss and hum between notes. Its passive, single-ended noise-reduction system provides approximately 10dB of broadband noise reduction without gating or pumping and without affecting the tone of the amp. A by-product of the noise reduction circuit is that it generates light via a front-mounted bulb as you play. The harder you play, the brighter it glows.Tone ControlsThe Hot Plate is also the only attenuator offering a Bright switch and a Deep switch for tailoring your sound. The Bright switch gives you 2 different high-frequency levels so you can compensate for an overly bright or dull speaker cabinet. The Deep switch offers 2 distinct bass settings to help you fill out the bottom end or reduce the bass in a cabinet with too much low end.Adjustable Line OutTHD Hot Plates also feature a Line Out, which is adjustable by its own volume cont

Our guitar-playing son, who's 26, absolutely LOVES this effect pedal. He uses it all the time, so I rank this high on his list of favorite Christmas gifts of all time.

The VOX V847 Wah-Wah pedal is an enhanced version of the most famous guitar effects pedal of all time.Based on the specifications of the original pedal developed by VOX in the '60s, the new Wah-Wah offers guitarists the same legendary tone with the addition of AC power capability and a buffered input jack for preserving the unprocessed guitar tone when the pedal is not engaged. The pedal\'s inductor has undergone a redesign to be closer in specification to the original VOX wah inductors, for improved dynamics and tone. These additions will benefit players of all genres who use a wah pedal as an integral part of their sound.VOX developed the world\'s first Wah-Wah effect during the '60s in an effort to allow guitarists to emulate the sound of a trumpet being muted — an important musical ingredient of the day. VOX\'s original Wah-Wah pedal quickly gained widespread popularity and its unique sonic characteristics have encouraged further experimentation by guitarists ever since. Having made spotlight appearances on some of the most famous recordings of all time, the Wah-Wah is still considered \'must-have equipment" for guitar players of all levels and abilities today.

Bugera V5 5-Watt Class-A Valve Amplifier Combo with Reverb And Power Attenuator Review

Bugera V5 5-Watt Class-A Valve Amplifier Combo with Reverb And Power Attenuator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I really like this amp for use at the house. The power attenuator is great for cranking down the volume while still getting a natural tube sound. I have found that I almost always run mine on the 0.1 watt setting and it's plenty loud for me in the lving room. Sounds best when the tubes are not driven too hard (just mild distortion / tube breakdown). If you push it too hard it gets into a king of weird tube breakdown that I'm not too crazy about, but maybe the tubes are not really broken in yet? The built in reverb is a nice feature and has a very good sound considering it's digital. This amp is a good deal if you just want something to get a nice bluesy tone around the house without blowing everyones ear drums out.

Dressed in classic two-tone vinyl, running on one power and one preamp valve and featuring bone-simple controls, the BUGERA V5 looks like a carefully constructed nostalgia trip. In fact, in many ways, it is! But plug into this beautiful little amp and you\'ll not only find a sound that\'s caked in real vintage raunch, but also modern features that take this sound to places it couldn\'t go—until now.
Big Sound, Small Package
Rock music brings to mind amplifiers as big as skyscrapers, dishing out irreversible ear damage at ruthless volumes. But a studio secret among guitar greats is that little low-watt valve combos like the V5 can be maxed out for red-hot overdriven tone without blowing fuses or incurring any property damage.

The V5 is a living, breathing homage to those half-pint screamers of the past, but with two very important improvements. See, this amp may be small, but 5 watts in Valvesville is still loud as hell when it\'s sitting in your bedroom. That\'s why the V5 features a switchable power attenuator that allows you to run 5, 1 or 0.1 Watts. An attenuator reduces the amplitude of a signal without changing its sound. That means you can still drive the valves into banshee-league fury, but without waking up the neighbors.

Finding a headphone out jack on an all-valve guitar amp is incredibly rare because the integration requires loading the output transformer and filtering the signal for a loudspeaker simulation. (Translation: it\'s a pain in the ass!) But in true BUGERA fashion, we\'ve gone the extra mile to allow you some late night practicing. Just plug in a pair of headphones to the 1/4" phones jack on the back panel, and you\'re ready to keep the V5\'s all-valve sound all to yourself. Then again, if it\'s more volume you need, the V5 has a 1/4" Speaker Out jack that allows you to connect an additional speaker with a minimum impedance of 4 Ohms. This dangerous dandy also features the same studio-caliber digital reverb found in its bigger BUGERA brothers. The spring reverb found in the V5\'s post-war predecessors sounds lovely, but is delicate and expensive to repair. The V5\'s modern update gives you an equally mesmerizing vintage reverb sound without the wallet-draining vintage reliability.
Little Wonder
With the V5 in your home or studio, your tonal woes are over. It bears the true sound of an antique 5W valve amp, it\'s built to survive abuse, and its price tag is tons lighter than the ones you\' ll find tied to its elders. Adopt a V5 today and get ready to pack 60 years of sonic inspiration into your recording or practice sessions.
Features
Hand-built 5-Watt Class-A amplifier driven by 1 x EL84 valve
Way cool vintage look and feel
Original 8" BUGERA guitar speaker for true vintage sound
Authentic preamp design from the '60s featuring 1 x 12AX7 valve—everything from purring blues to mind-blowing crunch

Vox Joe Satriani Time Machine Delay Pedal Review

Vox Joe Satriani Time Machine Delay Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Vox's partnership with Joe seems to be really paying off. The Saturator was great, and this little green box doesn't disappoint. I won't bother with the facts - you've probably heard them a thousand times. What I will say is that this delay has become a staple of my sound. I previously had a Boss DD-7 (with optional tap tempo footswich) and sold it to get this. The Boss had some nice features that the Time Machine doesn't - 40 seconds of looping and that weird backwards tape effect, but the truth is I never once used those live. With the DD-7, I'd just throw it on "Analog" and tap the tempo, which made it very limited to me. It somehow seemed like a DOS prompt - everything was hidden behind a few layers of code that I had to remember in order to call it up. And when I did use it, it was mechanical like a robot - not musical and warm like Madeline Peyroux. Oh, and the DD-7 would leave tempo artifacts in my signal even when it was bypassed. Not cool.
The Time Machine, on the other hand, offers a variety of options at-the-ready. For any song, I can choose modern or vintage via footswitch, as well as Hi-Fi or Lo-Fi via the toggle. The settings really do sound different and give you the ability to shape your sound to create what you're looking for. I still tend to tap the tempo, but the Time Machine's D.Range knob is much easier to use and see on stage than the DD-7's Mode knob. When tapping the tempo, the D.Range button thinks of your tapping as a quarter note and sets the repeats as follows:
1000 ms - Quarter Note (repeats exactly on your tapped tempo)
500 ms - Quarter Note Triplets
250 ms - Eight Note
125 ms - Eigth Note Triplets
Once you've set the tempo, you can switch between different D.Range settings and it will maintain your tempo. This becomes intuitive very quickly. When I play with delay now, I can intentionally put my delayed notes exactly where I want them, rather than just have them strewn out behind me like a trail of discarded beer cans.
I was initially turned off by the TM not being "True Bypass", but whatever Vox did in there, they did it right. I can't hear any degridation in tone or signal with the Time Machine (or Satchurator, BTW). By contract, Boss Pedals are known to suck tone, which I definitely experienced with the DD-7.
The only negative is that the Time Machine doesn't have tails / trails, where the delayed notes continue to trail off even after you've hit the "off" button. Minor oversight, Vox & Joe, no cookie for you. (Full disclosure - the DD-7 does have tails / trails)
Bottom line - the Vox / Joe Satriani Time Machine is the best delay pedal for my money. Not cheap, but definitly worth it.
For the record, I play a Strat into an MXR Super Comp -> Sparkle Drive -> Satchurator -> Ernie Ball Volume Jr -> Time Machine -> Fender Amp.

World-renowned guitarist Joe Satriani and VOX collaborated to design the Time Machine dual mode delay pedal. Featuring two delay modes and a Hi-Fi/Lo-Fi switch, the Time Machine delivers a wide range of delay sounds and yet remains remarkably easy to use.The time machine provides both modern and vintage delay modes. The modern mode mirrors your original sound with full clarity and fidelity, and will fit any style of music. As its name suggests, the vintage mode delivers the sound of a classic tape delay unit. A proprietary saturation circuit creates a warm, analog sound with a nice sense of distortion. Gentle modulation is also applied in the vintage mode, reproducing the slight warbling produced by a tape-based delay. The amazing effectiveness is the result of an uncompromising process of testing and refining carried out by Joe and VOX.Joe wanted to get a sound that blends nicely with the other performers whether you're on stage or in the studio and yet also has some thickness to the tone. The solution was to add a Hi-Fi/Lo-Fi switch to the time machine. The Hi-Fi mode delivers a transparent, uncolored sound. The Lo-Fi mode, on the other hand, provides a distinctive EQ, combining both high-pass and low-pass filters. This EQ uses filters that have been precisely adjusted to Joe's taste, so that your guitar sound will blend naturally in the mix – without obscuring or interfering with the other players. The time machine is a pedal like no other, one that expands your sound-creating potential through a variety practical functions.

Gretsch® G5222 Guitar Amplifier Electromatic Compact Guitar Amplifier Review

Gretsch® G5222 Guitar Amplifier Electromatic Compact Guitar Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While many guitarists prefer alot more than 5 watts of power out of a tube amp, I found that for something like practice or perhaps a small gig, this amp would be more than enough. The 5 watts of tube power out of the Gretsch sound much better when pushed than a more powerful SS amp. It has two inputs, the second being a bit cleaner sounding then the first, which is a little warmer. It comes with a 6 inch speaker that plays ok, but it has an external jack, so I pulled the little speaker out and made the Gretsch into a head for a 1x12 cab with an old Cleveland. That really brought out the sound. They require two tubes, a 12ax7 and a 6v6 (which are provided), but there are alternatives to these tubes that can alter the sound (slightly). I was impressed with the build quality, and it is just a very good looking, simple, and a great sounding amp, through both Strats and LPs. It has alot of potential and would probably be decent at a small gig or something (if miked). Also, I often see reviews suggesting adding a kit that has a valve rectifier/standby switch to "protect" the tubes from getting fried. It's not really necessary (your tubes won't get hit by that much on power-up). For the price, it really delivers

Five watts. Two tubes. Two inputs. Too cool! Designed by guitarists, this low-output, easy-to-record amp is ideal for small-room jam sessions and recording projects. Crank the amp's volume and adjust the guitar's controls for a variety of sounds. Not only does it spank, sparkle and growl, but the visual factor is undeniably Gretsch!

Very loud, gutsy, and meaty tone with singing highs and nice, clear overtones. Pick Your Sound Electric guitars, guitar amplification, and the birth of Rock-n-Roll in the 1950's collectively established a new use for loudspeakers.Speaker choices were limited in those days and amplifier manufacturers had to purchase products that were common to other applications.Usually, this meant a low-power speaker, often with an Alnico magnet, and limited cone and coil travel. Due to the nature of the speaker's construction, the sound of the guitar and amplifier combination was impacted by the speaker design.Amplified guitar was a bit more aggressive duty than most other speaker applications at the time and the speakers were frequently challenged in terms of their mechanical movement and linearity. Guitarist learned how to control these non-linearities and use the resulting tonalcharacteristics to their advantage. Speaker break-up became cool and was a desired feature by most guitarists. The great guitar tones we know now are a result of those events. Although there are a multitude of distinctive guitar speaker tones available today, they can be broken down into two main categories. We have Marshall and Celestion to thank for the distinctively "British tones" that we are so familiar with. Fender, Peavey, and SLM (Crate/Ampeg) worked with speaker companies like Eminence, Oxford, CTS, JBL, and Electrovoice to establish tones that are distinctively "American". Eminence is proud to present the Patriot and Redcoat series of guitar speakers.Incorporating both British and American cone technology into speakers that we manufacture in the USA gives us the ability to provide you with virtually any tone you desire.Be it British or American, clean or dirty, big bass or screaming highs, we have a speaker that will allow you to "Pick Your Sound". AD15VT Guitar Combo Amp Review

AD15VT Guitar Combo Amp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros: Good amp modeling (esp. regarding accurate tube-like gain breakup), decent sounding effects (esp. tremolo and Leslie sims), fairly transparent noise reduction, pretty loud (for a 15 watt-er)
Cons: Convoluted rotary effects editing (I would have preferred a one-by-one on/off switch for each effect), only two store-able presets, no non-headphone preamp out (i.e. a preamp out that doesn't defeat the speaker), no foot switch included.
Both my Les Paul and my Telecaster sound great through this amp, but I cannot speak for how Jackson/Ibanez/ESP-type shred-meister guitars would sound... Also, I'm not sure about ultra high gain amp models, as I seldom use much distortion and haven't monkeyed around with those settings too much.
I have played through many of the genuine amps that this amp claims to mimic, and I must say, it does a fairly decent job of recreating them (within reason). Obviously, if your looking for a top of the line, holy grail, solve-all-of-my-problems-kind of amp or if you are a more seasoned player who is looking for that one signature sound and kind of already know what you want, skip this one and get yourself the real deal( a genuine Twin, Bassman, AC30, etc....)Modeling amps probably aren't for you. But for the price, this amp is just the ticket for late night practice/rehersal/recording sessions. This amp will not only serve as a solid choice for practice and/or jamming, it may help guide the player to what kind of amp they may want as their primary amp in the future.

Vox VT100 Valvetronix 100-watt 2 X 12in. Modeling Combo Amplifier Review

Vox VT100 Valvetronix 100-watt 2 X 12in. Modeling Combo Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While I am still in the process of learning all that this amp can do I still feel compelled to sing it's praises because, brother/sister, this amp can do a lot. The valvetronix system in which the sound is treated ALMOST gets that amp singing like a true valve amp. It has 22 amp models each with 3 presets apiece, the presets are very well done- usually with modeling amps the presets are a bit over the top with more than a little too much treble- not here- the presets are tastefully done and each is eminently useful in finding great tones. On top of the 66 presets (you see what I mean by a lot) you can bank and save 8 of your own custom tones using the 22 amp models plus a bevy of effects (Tape Echo and Rotary Speaker are my favorites, so far)- small quibble- the foot-switch is sold separately. It has a power knob that lets you adjust the wattage so you can actually play this monster in your bedroom or use it effectively for recording but it's at the higher volumes where this baby really sings- because the valves are NOT used just in the pre-amp stage you can really activate them at the higher volumes and that is where you get closer to the sound of a real valve amp but at a fraction of the cost.
If you are looking for a versatile amp the Vox VT100 is not just the best bang for your buck but just a flat out great choice at any price. Seriously, now that I own one I would pay twice the price.

Vox AC4TV All-tube practice amp with remarkable self-control Review

Vox AC4TV All-tube practice amp with remarkable self-control
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Coming from a 20 watt solid state practice amp, this is definitely a step up.
I expected the tube distortion to sound more pleasing than that of my old solid state, but even the cleans are nicer - they have a sort of chimey quality.
I'm not sure if it's due to the tubes or the Celestion speaker.
I may never use this feature, but there is a speaker out jack to use with an external cab.
I picked up a variant with an 8" speaker to save space, but I believe it's identical to the 10" model otherwise.
I've had it for a few months now, and while it doesn't have the bells and whistles on some of Vox's modeling amps or Fender's tube-based Super Champ, I returned those amps and kept this one based solely on sound quality, which is highly subjective.
Not an amp for metal, but well suited to blues, jazz and classic rock. I don't usually like the amp's breakup above 50% gain. I may add an overdrive pedal to my setup.
The only thing I wish this amp had was a headphone jack.

Kustom Double Barrel 30 Watt 2x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier Review

Kustom Double Barrel 30 Watt 2x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This amp is a good value for the money, but does not compare with a real tube amp. The amp is plenty loud, and has OK tone, better than the Fender Frontman, a comparable high-selling amp. It is a bit mid-heavy, high end is not that crisp and the low end can get a little muddy. But dont let that stop you, with some determination and a lot of adjustment, there is some good tone inside that amp.
We found the sweet spot on it, not too loud. We mic it and run through the PA, it sounds great.
Advantages:
-plenty loud
-tone has good range and can be dialed in
-gain channel has a great tube crunch, from bluesy to thrashy!
-great deal, beginner amp price, sounds nearly pro
Disadvantages:
-no footswitch for channel / effects change
-reverb and chorus are crap (turn them off, get nice pedals instead)
-only one input
-no fx loop

Laney VC15-110 VC Series 15 Watt Class AB Guitar Tube 1x10 Combo Review

Laney VC15-110 VC Series 15 Watt Class AB Guitar Tube 1x10 Combo
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a moderately priced tube amp that features channel switching and good build quality. The clean channel is crisp at lower levels, but won't do Fender type cleans at higher levels. Of course, like the Vox Class A amps it's modeled after, it really has it's own sound, it isn't meant to be a Fender. As with a lot of lower powered amps, a little distortion creeps in when the volume is cranked, especially with humbuckers. The drive channel is fine, it delivers a lot of smooth breakup when needed.
The VC15 is lightweight for a tube amp, there's no problem carrying it around, and it appears to be well built. It uses a pair of EL84 power tubes, which are relatively inexpensive, and it doesn't require biasing when replacing tubes, so cost of ownership should be low.

This amp is just plain great, good, and very usable for recording. It works excellently with the Vox 1-12 Cabinet. It works very well with a Chorus pedal, Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-9. It can produce a full array of tones with just a little experimentation. I've been using it with single coil pickups. It has the Vox "jangle."

The Class A Vox AC4TVH retains the distinctive EL84 power tube found on the original Vox AC4. But, it now features a 12AX7 powered preamplifier that works in tandem with the EL84. Pair it with the matching V112TV 1x12" cabinet, and expect retro-chic tone - and that's also the vibe you're going to get, as the Vox AC4TVH features a 1958 AC15-style "TV" front design, with the Vox's signature diamond grillecloth. All in all, this impressive feature sets makes the AC4TVH one of the best bang-for-your-buck amp heads available. When you're practicing - or recording - with your high-wattage all-tube amplifier, it's simply hard to achieve those classic tube tones at listening levels. The Vox AC4TVH, however, is designed to solve that problem. Already a 4-watt amp, the Vox AC4TVH gives you incredible tone when you need to crank it to reasonable levels. But, for tremendous tone at really manageable levels, you can use its built-in power attenuator to take it from four watts down to just one watt, then down to just 1/4" watt. It's the perfect partner for late night recording sessions, when you don't want to wake up the neighbors.

The Vox DA5 is a powerful, crisp-sounding little amp that packs a lot of punch for something this small. It's a scaled down version of the Valvetronix amp that Vox introduced a couple of years ago. This is the new breed of practice amp, which means that it's really a digital effects processor housed in an amp's cabinet. There are 11 amp simulations, along with 11 effect combinations. All of them are quite good and which ones you prefer depend on what your musical tastes are (as well as your alternatives in equipment). I prefer the cleaner and blues settings, particularly with the tremelo and reverb effects as these sound the most like a 'real' Vox combo to my ears. I was very impressed with the reverb as it sounded a lot like an actual built-in spring reverb. Digital effects usually don't replicate that sound well. I'm less happy with the wah-wah, delay, and flanger sounds because I already have great-sounding versions of those effects from Digitech. If you don't already have a box full of pedals like I do, I think you will be very happy with the Vox DA5.
As a twist, this amp has a variable power output. You can choose a minimum of 1 watt or a maximum of 5 watts. This allows you to dial up the overdrive and still have a lot of bite at lower volume, in theory. In practice, it means that you can play with good tone at very low volumes. As such this amp is ideal for apartment dwellers. At 5 watts, the amp is loud enough for small band practice (without drums), a street performer (with the microphone input), or even a suitable choice for classroom or small church functions. The amp uses C batteries or an included AC adapter which is thankfully not a wall-wart.

While the amp sounds great, I wasn't impressed with the craftsmanship. On the outside, the vinyl coating and metal grating looked very professional. On the inside, there was some very sloppy shopwork. The glue was sloppy. The walls of the amp were particle-board, not plywood. The wiring from the battery-terminals to the circuit board seemed very fragile. One of my knobs pulled off the gain pot immediately. In short, this screams "Poor Quality Control!" and makes me wonder how this amp will stand up to repeated use in multiple settings over time. I docked it a star for this. Otherwise, this is a winning combination especially for the price.
If you care about the look of the amp, Vox also has a 'classic look' version (presumably for Beatles fans), a camoflogue version (for the weekend warrior), and a pink box (for those in touch with their femininity).

Vox Python Guitar Strap with Metal Plates and Studs Review

I was pleasantly surprised to find this matched my original Vox Python strap which is still in the original round plastic box showing the Beatles on the lid. I paid $50 for the original, so even the new strap price hadn't increased that much. It's a heavy strap, but on stage it's a great item to reflect the light. Great quality

Vox Joe Satriani Satchurator Distortion Pedal Review

Vox Joe Satriani Satchurator Distortion Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just received it as a gift off my Amazon wishlist ... after playing for about an hour, I'm very pleased with it! The hiss levels are remarkably low, even at high gain settings. It's a warm yet sharp distortion, and once you tune in a comfortable tone knob setting to your tastes, it will be just what you're looking for.
The More switch is just what it's supposed to be, a boost in just the right way, without having to bend down to crank up anything. A little TS9 Tube Screamer before it gives a bit more body, a good tone for my technique, but not essential. By itself through a tube amp (in my case a Fender Blues Jr. NOS) the Satchurator covers everything you need. Just get good at rolling the guitar's volume knob as part of your "effects chain", and you don't need anything else to get good, solid, pure tone that rocks and shreds.
