The ART Zdirect is a high quality totally passive interface that lets you connect instrument, line, or speaker level signals to a mixer or other balanced input thru a high performance audio isolation transformer. The high impedance single-ended 1/4' input is converted by the transformer into an isolated balanced low impedance signal source. The Zdirects audio transformer has an extremely flat and wide frequency response and can handle high signal levels while still maintaining an isolated balanced low impedance output. This gives the Zdirect a very clean and neutral sound with a wide variety of signal sources and over long signal runs in high noise environments. The Input Attenuator switches allow for a wide range of signal levels and the Input Thru jack allows for tapping off of your signal chain. The Ground Lift switch lets you totally separate the input and output signal grounds, when appropriate, to isolate two systems, thereby reducing hum and ground-loop noise. What further sets the Zdirect apart from other "DI" boxes are its extended features and versatility. ART has added a switchable low pass Filter that cuts out all very high frequency interference. This Bessel filter on the output is placed out of the audio range and is primarily intended to reduce radio frequency interference before it gets into the main system. The filter is also very effective in reducing any digital computer noise artifacts when using the Zdirect as an interface between a computer based audio workstation and your monitors. The Phase Invert switch, while not normally included with your run of the mill D.I. box, has been added to allow you to switch signal polarity right at the source. This feature is especially handy when you are combining a direct tap with a microphone feed in the mix. The compact black anodized all aluminum case and it's passive design allow the Zdirect to provide years of trouble free service in Live Sound, Permanent/Fixed Install

Whirlwind Imp 2 Transformer Direct Box Review

Whirlwind Imp 2 Transformer Direct Box

This is one of the whirlwind DI products. Unique thing is that it doesn't have output level change switch to -20dB or -40dB. I think this product is fixed at -20dB as standard. I am not sure how this product is designed for better quality with fixed output level but its price is pretty higher than that of Whirlwind EDB1. This product($39.99) has no defect as they advertised on their web but I recommend if you want to save money "whirlwind EDB1"($28.77) is better; if you want better quality "Whirlwind director Passive DI"($59.95) is good. This product is between and I don't know its quality. Returning was cumbersome and it works so I am using but next time I will choose one of those two I recommended. That is why I gave 4 star.

Seismic Audio - Passive Direct Box w/ Ground Left and Attenuator Switch DI Box Review

Seismic Audio - Passive Direct Box w/ Ground Left and Attenuator Switch DI Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently acquired a vintage Alesis synthesizer with grand piano voices included. It has 1140 different complex voicings preprogramed in and the stereo sounds it produced listening through head phones were amazing. I connected it to my Polytone amp and it worked well until I started using more of the more complex voices. It would work well for some of the time but the effects in some of the voices had to high of an output and I kept blowing fuses. To change the fuse, the amp cabinet had to be dismantled to change it. So I heard about your solution to put a DI box in line from the instrument to the amp to lower the signal strength. I searched Amazon and chose your SA-DI1 device. It works great, I have yet to blow a fuse, and the sound quality has not been affected. I think your product is highly under rated, judging by the quality versus the cost. A great product for a great price.
Thanks - A Satisfied Customer

Behringer BDI21 V-Tone Bass Amp Modeler Review

Behringer BDI21 V-Tone Bass Amp Modeler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
OK here are the facts:
1- I own a cheap bass. I admit it freely, and I don't regret it. Considering the economic times is just wise to choose the cheapest tool that will get the job done. I also admit that cheap instruments sound cheap, and my Memphis is no exception.
2- For expert ears, tonal coloring is no substitute of a good instrument. However for most listeners is just difficult (if not plain impossible) to distinguish between good and great.
3- Amplifiers are as important as the Bass for the final tone. So is technique (I don't like picks, fingers only), in fact a good player can make a crappy instrument sound good, and no matter how expensive your instrument, if you can't play it will show.
After the above disclaimers, I can totally assure you that THIS BOX IS AWESOME. First it makes your cheap instrument sound like is 5 times (in my case 10) more expensive. I use as a DI to an Edirol M-16DX mixer, then either via USB 2.0 to Apple Logic or to a pair of Behringer B215A 400 W Active speakers (yes they are behringer too, so wut?) I didn't buy the power cord, instead I have a steady supply of 9V (which I remove when the unit is not in use). Using the balanced output (XLR) there's no humm, dial the level up to get good volume, and dial the equalizer knobs to your liking (use your ears, finding the tones you like is not difficult). Is not great, but is very good, and considering its versatility and that unbeatable price, the Behringer BDI21 is a clear winner, not just for us in a budget, but also for beginners and mid level players. Just don't step on it.

There are DI boxes... and then there's the V-TONE BASS BDI21, a feature-packed analog DI box built especially for bass.

Not Your Average DI Box The BDI21 combines the features of an active DI (direct injection) box with our proprietary tube emulation circuitry. It's like having a truckload of vintage tube amps right at your toes! The Blend control allows you to mix the amount of tube emulation you want with your direct bass signal. And if you don't want to use the tube emulation feature, just step on the switch and the ADI21 functions as a superb active DI box.
So Easy to Use With its dedicated DRIVE, TREBLE, BASS, LEVEL, and PRESENCE dials, the BDI21 DI box goes above and beyond, giving you vintage tube tones for some funked-up slap, gonzo overdrive and everything in-between. You can use the BDI21 as a recording output DI, with tube emulation, or as a standard active DI box, when running in bypass mode. The output is laid out on 1/4" TS or balanced, gold-plated XLR connectors. There's also a ground lift switch that eliminates typical ground loop hum problems. You can power this bad boy with a 9V battery or Behringer's PSU-SB DC power supply (not included).
Not Just for Bass
Use With Other Instruments The BDI21 is not only for bass guitars. You can try it with other instruments (e. g. acoustic/electric guitars, keyboards etc.) to create new sounds and enhance your music. Please make sure that the input level is not too high to avoid overloading the BDI21.
Direct to a Mixing ConsoleFor live and studio applications you can connect the balanced LR BAL OUT directly to a mic input of a mixing console. Be sure not to overload the input by using the gain control of the respective channel. For further information please refer to the user's manual of your mixing console.
Use Without InstrumentsYou can use the BDI21 without an instrument as an outboard processor connected to an insert or an effect path (aux send/ return) of your mixing console to affect the signal of a particular channel. This way you can enhance existing tracks during mixdown. For further information please refer to the user's manual of your mixing console.

Radial ProRMP Studio Re-Amper Passive Re-Amping Direct Box Review

(More customer reviews)
My goal was to run all instruments (banjo, guitar, drums, bass, piano) through my yamaha mixer, into my loop pedal to record and layer loops, then from the loop pedal into my amp for play back. Line from mixer to amp was noisy and not very loud due to impedance mismatch from mixer line out to amp input. This re-amper did the trick. Matched impedance and allows me to pump everything through the mixer and into the looper/amp. No more plugging and unplugging and the mixer allows me to fine tune with all adjustments and levels for all instruments. I just click my loop pedal, play whatever instrument I want, record the loop, and then play back through amp. Also, I can line out to, and line back in, from mixer to my Mac for recording and editing in Garageband and then playback fro Mac through the mixer to the re-amper and amp. If I get another one, I can pump instrument signals through mixer to different amps. Sweet...

LR Baggs Feedback Master Preamp Review

LR Baggs Feedback Master Preamp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Simple to use, clean-sounding device. Baggs's
use of efficient circuit design delivers a clear,
transparent sound. This preamp doesn't color the
sound much.
The screws that attach the belt-clip to the outside
of the case are very short and apt to work lose.
They also, on my unit, caused the device to buzz
because they touched the metal on the inside. Some
kind of grounding problem I guess. My unit may
be defective but I never returned it to Baggs of
called them to ask about it. Instead, I just
removed the screws and have used the unit parked
on a table or on an amp... a lousy solution
admittedly, but at the time I was using this a
lot I was performing on a weekly basis and didn't
want to go without the unit while I returned it
to Baggs. I was pessimistic about the belt-clip
screw buzzing being a fixable issue at the time.
SO - it sounds great. It notch-filters feedback
admirably, but seems to have this design flaw that
made it inconvenient for me to use, even though
I put up with it for a few years.

Behringer LX1B-PRO BASS V-AMP PRO The Ultimate Tone Toolbox for Bass, Acoustic/Electric Guitar and Keyboard Amp Modeling Review

Behringer LX1B-PRO BASS V-AMP PRO The Ultimate Tone Toolbox for Bass, Acoustic/Electric Guitar and Keyboard Amp Modeling
Average Reviews:

Looking at the reviews on Musicians Friend, they were all glowing and positive with three exceptions: Two thought it was too complicated, since they just wanted to plug in and play. One had evidently gotten a defective unit, and supposedly Behringer is well known for shoddy manufacturing. However, in my home studio it will see such light duty that I am going to buy one and I will tell you my personal experiences after I have used it.
Let me reiterate: The other 25 reviews were glowing in praise about the features, sound, etc and the owners seemed ecstatic.
It looks like you could do anything with it...lots of voices, effects, cab simulations, etc. There is also a little software program so you can program it from your PC. The simple issue is sound...does it sound good, full, and punch and cut through the mix? We shall see.
The other drag is that it doesn't come with even a cheap little foot controller. You have to buy one separately. No big deal for me, but if you want to play live and cart it everywhere, you might consider buying its cheaper little brother that is a floor unit.
The best unit out there is the Bass Pod Pro rack mount, but it doesn't have true stereo effects (!) and costs waaaaay too much. All the other units are floor units, and I am trying to get junk OFF my floor...thats why I'm making this purchase in the first place. Other rack units require an amp and we shall have NONE of that in my quiet little suburban home.
This looks attractive...just hope my worries about Behringer quality don't turn out to be valid.

If a lack of money and floor space is all that's been standing between you and a collection of vintage bass amps and effects pedals, get ready to love the rack-mountable BASS V-AMP PRO. It comes loaded with 32 amp models, 23 speaker cabinet models and 16 classic effects. The BASS V-AMP PRO's 32 amp models are organized into three groups: CLEAN, ACOUSTIC and GUITAR. Just twist the dedicated dial to plug into unbelievably authentic simulations of the greatest acoustic and electric bass sounds from the 1950s to today. When you select an amp model, a speaker cabinet model is automatically selected. But if you'd prefer a different model, just go to EDIT>CABINETS, then use the BANK UP/DOWN buttons to navigate through all 15 options. Just like on an actual bass amp, you've got a three-band EQ, GAIN, VOLUME and MASTER VOLUME dials. There's even a COMPRESSOR dial for tight, smooth tone with a variable attack. By holding the TAP button, the TREBLE dial becomes a PRESENCE control. This enables the adjustment of a high-frequency filter that can add or remove a "shimmer" from the BASS V-AMP PRO's tone.

Fishman Aura Spectrum D.I. Review

Fishman Aura Spectrum D.I.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this on the reccommendation of reviews on line, here and elsewhere. And the reviews were right, this little box does everything I need.
I was looking for a DI that would provide: a tuner, E.Q., feedback suppressor, and a pre-amp. I play a variety of acoustic instruments and needed
a way to change instruments onstage without the noise associated with unplugging a guitar cable from a DI. The Fishman automatically mutes the signal when
the tuner is engaged, cool! Now I can change from my guitar to mandolin or dobro without having to go to the PA to mute the channel. I wanted something that had
all these abilities in one unit, having too many little boxes on-stage is a drag during and after the performance.
Now for the images the unit provides. I don't have any of the guitars imaged, my stage acoustic is a strange cheap Korean guitar that I hotrodded,(tired of dragging expensive guitars to bars), so I just choose the image of the "Concert Guitar" and found a mic image that sounded the best. They all sounded pretty much the same, which all are actually very usable sounds. I knew and expected I wasn't going to make my guitar sound like a vintage Martin, or my cheap but very cool(vintage) Harmony
electric mando sound like a Gibson, but my instruments sounded great and were pre-amped just right, all with just one box!!!
CUSTOMER support, I had a problem with the first unit the vendor sent, it quit working a week after I bought it, just before a gig I was planning and needed it for.
I went to the Fishman website and wrote a letter describing my problem and need (the gig was in one week), they understood my panic, sent me a new unit without requiring me to send the old one in first (Trust and belief in customers is a new experience for me), THIS was WAY cool and the new one came a day before the gig.
In using the Aura Spectrum on the gig, I was pleased to find the feedback suppressor worked miracles, the sound man had me way loud in the monitor, with a loud low frequency making everyone nervous, I just stepped on the feedback button, and POOF!, it was gone. I could tune up various instruments and get levels very easily, all without leaving my chair (I have to sit down to play dobro). This was a new day for me, life was good, I am a happy customer!!

Behringer Active DI Box for Guitar GI100 Review

Behringer Active DI Box for Guitar GI100
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
[1] Behringer Ultra-G is very useful if you're planning to record your own stuff. My band rents a studio room to practice. The system used to record us is simple (and it's free): A cheap environment mic is used to record drums and the voice goes directly to the mixer. The result is a poor quality recording: The music is all mixed and it sounds terrible. The voice is the only thing that sounds great because it's directly recorded to the console. This reference tape is very improtant because we use this tape to hear what is okey and what we have to improve. Well, now I use this Direct Box to record my guitar directly to the console. We put the environment mic inside the room to record the drummer. The result is a more separated mix: The voice and the guitar sound great and the drums are okey, it's to "understand" it and to correct mistakes. I have to mention that the cabinet simulator included in the Ultra -Gcabinet is incredible, sounds natural and let you record directly without an expensive amp.
[2]So you're going to play live? Well, you can use the traditional mic system AND additionaly connect your guitar to to the console thru the direct box. Or you can use only the direct box instead of the mic in your amp. The problem with the mics is that they filter others sounds and frequences (like the drums) Sometimes this could be a nightmare to the sound engineers. With the direct box you avoid this problem and you get a more clean sound from your guitar.
My band play death metal, so it's important to hear the riffs, the solos, the drum rolls and the bass lines properly to enjoy the music. This little red devil is going to solve a lot of problems like home recording, live playing and studio recording. If you're a guitar player like me, do yourself a favor and get one now, you'll be very pleased with the results.

Hey, its a direct box, it works... what else can you say? I am using it to run my Waldorf Blofeld into the mic inputs on my TASCAM US-1641. Pretty much fixes both the 'quiet output' and 'noisy output' problems with it, and frees up inputs. I plan on getting a few more so i can make use of the other Mic inputs.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Pyle-Pro PDC22 Professional DI Direct Box (Dual 1/4-inch Instrument to Dual Balanced XLR)

Pyle PDC22 is a necessity if you are looking for the higest quality of sound, with low distortion, noise, and eliminate ground loops. A DI unit, DI box, Direct Box, Direct Input, Direct Injection or simply DI is an electronic device that connects a high impedance, line level, unbalanced output signal to a low impedance mic level balanced input, usually via XLR connector. DIs are frequently used to connect an electric guitar or electric bass to a mixing console's microphone input. The DI performs level matching, balancing, and either active buffering or passive impedance bridging to minimise noise, distortion, and ground loops. DIs do not perform impedance matching. Pyle has been in business for over 35 years, and their manufacturing experience and expertise is easy to see - and hear.

I have had my SansAmp Bass Driver DI for nearly 10 years, and it is the single best piece of equipment you can buy for your bass rig on a limited budget. I have had people stop me after shows to ask me about my excellent sounding "rig", which includes the SansAmp into a cheap compressor and a small combo amp. When I bought this direct box the price was only $8! It's since gone up to $11, but that's still a phenomenal value for a decent piece of gear. I've been using two of these to turn a 1/4" unbalanced (guitar) signal into a balanced (XLR) signal in order to run the cable about 50 feet without introducing noise into the signal path, and it works like a champ. The box doesn't color the sound much at all.
I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to pick up a decent D.I. at a phenomenal price.

Appearing to be one of the original epiphones of the 60's, be sure that things have only gotten crisper and louder since then. The Pyle PGEKT30 is an impressive piece of equipment, with looks and sounds far superior to much more expensive models. Once again, Pyle has put together a Professional quality piece of equipment at an affordable price.Included is a Pyle Guitar Amplifier, Patch Cable, Extra Strings, Guitar Picks, a Gig Bag, and a Strap. This kit sounds too good to be true but it isn't, in fact, it's just what you need to get started.Pyle has been in business for over 35 years, and their manufacturing experience and expertise is easy to see - and hear.
