(More customer reviews)Seymour Duncan is known for making decent pick-ups for guitars, but this is not one of them. It may be hum-canceling, but it also extremely low, when it comes to output, and I experienced a lot of self-noise in the pick-up.
I have used it two different ways, both with the intention of recording acoustic guitar:
First I tried plugging it into a small tube-amplifier, which in turn was mic'ed up. There was no hum from the guitar, but the hiss of white noise made it completely useless. I ended up just putting the mic from the amp in front of the guitar instead.
Second, I tried plugging the Seymour Duncan straight into my pre-amp/recording setup. Again the noise was unbearable, and I ended up setting up another mic and playing in front of that.
In other words, I would not recommend this pick-up, if you intend to record acoustic guitar. It may be alright for live purposes, but be aware that its output is fairly low.

Shadow Ukulele Under-Saddle Pickup with Endpin Jack Review

(More customer reviews)I put this in the ukulele of a 12-year old and she's now convinced that I'm a magician.
If you already have a ukulele, this is much less expensive than upgrading to an electric one. Great amplified sound, even with so-so ukuleles, and it works with any nylon-like ukulele strings.
We've played this through the Roland Micro Cube Guitar Amplifier- Black and the Roland Mobile Cube: Battery-Powered Stereo Amplifier. Sounds great.
This is very easy to install, but the included instructions aren't great. All you need is a power drill and 1/8 inch and 1/2-inch drill bits. Search on-line for one of the crystal-clear installation videos out there. (Be very careful handling the thing during installation. The piezo-to-wire connection looks very fragile, but this should be no problem once you finish the installation.)
(Oh. You'll also some sandpaper to sand down the saddle. It took more sanding work, but i replaced the old saddle with a Graphtech Tusq Acoustic Saddle Uke PQ-9250-00.)

(More customer reviews)I use this Seymour Duncan product on my 12 string guitar. It picks up each string surprisingly well. The sound hole pickup makes my guitar sound extremely natural through my acoustic amp... as in... there's not an electric sounding twang on each note... which you generally have with any regular acoustic electric guitar. For the price this is definitely worth getting.
