Very easy to get a good sound - I was confused at first but after 5 - 10 minutes I had it sussed out. Editing patches is simple - just use the 3 knobs (frequency, effect and Motion) and you're there.
Manual is short and sweet - I don't even want to open manuals, so it's got to be to the point for me.
Sound Quality : 10
I tried to get a nice Mick Ronson wah tone, and it was right there. Use a high frequency with the classic wah setting, with some classic gain, and it made me happy. Not noisy at all - can't live with noisy effects. Also, it didn't cause a drop in volume in my amps, which is very nice. The wireless ring (used to control the amount of effect on your strumming hand) was simple to use, and you absolutely do not have to use exaggerated hand movements to get the most from this unit. In fact, I like the Motion knob set to "flail", so it's quite subtle, and the pulses react to your picks/strums.

Oh yeah - I have played with bands and recorded without a backup - it's really solid.

Been playing 20 years. Rock, some jazz, acoustic, songwriting, etc. I have 5 guitars (Anderson, Ibanez Artist, Godin, Rickenbacker, Fender bass) and a few great amps (Mojave, Boogie). I really like this unit - why? It's an innovation. Unlike pretty much all the other stuff out there for wah sounds. I really hope this company make some more effects pedals as well - we need new ideas in the world of pedals.

Mod Tone Funk Filter Enveloper Review

(More customer reviews)I had high expecations for this cool little pedal but it did not live up to them. It has all the same controls as the Electro-Harmonix Micro Q-Tron, so I was thinking it would be very similar to a Micro Q-Tron in a smaller (cooler looking) box, or maybe even better. I actually liked the Q-Tron much better-- and I'm not super crazy about the Q-Tron.
The frequencies chosen for the various filter settings are just not very musical or usuable. It's either too thin and quacky, or too deep and muddy.
ModTone is making some good attempts but this one hasnt hit the mark yet.

It's built like a tank and has worked flawlessly in the time I've had it. Since I normally power it with a wall wart, I don't have much of an opinion about battery life.
Bottom Line: It costs a bit more than the standard Dunlop wah pedals, it's worth it.

The Crybaby 535Q is the Swiss Army knife of wah pedals. It provides control over the most important wah parameters, making it easy for you to create your ultimate wah tone. This is the wah pedal of choice for guitar master Joe Satriani.

Wah Range Selector The Wah Range Selector knob is located on the side of the 535Q pedal. It allows you to select a tonal range that is best suited for your expression needs. Turn the knob clockwise for the lower register ranges and counter-clockwise for the higher ranges.
Volume Control By turning the Volume Control knob located on the left side of the pedal, you control the amount of gain. Turning the knob clockwise will increase your gain to up to 16dB. Turning the knob counter-clockwise will decrease your gain to 0dB, or normal throughput.
Variable Q The "Q" adjustment is also located on the left side of the pedal; you can control the sharpness of the bandpass with this adjustment. High Q is a very selective bandpass filter, low Q is a very broad bandpass filter approaching an almost volume-like control. The lower Q settings have more musical quality and don't effect tone as much as the high Q settings.

There are a lot of wah pedals with a wider range out there but if you are looking for the traditional wah sound, this is the way to go. No other company has sucessfully replicated THIS sound. Other wahs are cool because of additional features and for their own affect (yes that is the spelling I intended). I gave this a 4 for the lack of features. If you buy this, a try adjusting the pot (read the instructions). Most people do not know about this feature but you can really change the voicing of this wah wah.

I would refuse to play guitar without it, its that simple. you can pretty much create any sound you want and i would consider the whammy pedal just as important as my guitar. its easy to use, and extremely worth it, dont second guess here, put up the money trust me its worth it. Ive been playing with it for over a year now and even if all I had was $200 to my name, id still spend every last penny on this pedal.

I was very surprised at the range of Wah sounds produced by this pedal. you can shape the Wah sound to what ever sound your after nice Sweep. I also have The Original Dunlop Crybaby, Let me tell you this was 2x more expensive and it sucks. It sucks your tone out of your guitar, It is so noisy. By comparison the Hellbabe is a better investment.
