(More customer reviews)I think I first saw/heard this mic in the original Concert for Bangladesh, and could not get over how cool it looked. Typically, I wouldn't consider buying such a thing based on appearance consideration, but the fact that George Harrison and Leon Russell felt them worthy, I considered it a safe purchase. To say the least, I was amazed by this mic. As a producer, I've used it for everything from vocals to horns to acoustic guitar - even capturing cymbal nuances that were lost on other more expensive mics. Live or in the studio, this mic is a serious performer that no performer or studio should be without - several, if budget allows. You won't run out of uses for it. The one down-side is that, over time, the frequency response goes dead (like any mic), but this can be factory-refurbished back to original specs. The mic comes with a graph read-out of your mic's unique response characteristics.

Sennheiser e945 Supercardioid Dynamic Handheld Mic Review

(More customer reviews)I have been performing live for almost 20 years now, and unless we had pro sound happening during a show, I struggled, like so many other singers, to cut across the band. Not to mention the impossibility of even using all the dynamics in my voice because the low volume/range stuff just would disappear. I was mostly using Shure SM58, the old horse, and knew how to work it well. But as my chops grew over the years and I started to be pickier, I tried several handhelds before finally coming across this one. And WOW. All I can say is, in comparison to the SM58, it's like someone threw on the light switch while you never even knew you'd been in the dark. It has much more gain to start with, and does wonderful things to my voice across my (huge) range. Crystal clear lows, excellent highs, and just really, really comfortable to sing through. I would buy it again in a heart beat.

Sennheiser e906 e 906 Guitar Amp Instrument Mic +BONUS Review

(More customer reviews)In a nutshell, what you get here is the Sennheiser e906, the Whirlwind cable & a mic-stand for the usual price of just the mic.
-The cable:
Whirlwind cables are the most roadworthy cable there is, period. These cables are built to last & that's what they do- I'm speaking from experience & I try to buy Whirlwind cables exclusively.
-Cab grabber:
Mic-holder that fastens onto the side of a guitar cabinet for quick & convenient set-up. For recording, I was worried about vibrations traveling from the guitar cabinet through the mic-holder but I heard no nasty rumble or resonances in my recordings. I took it to a gig to try it out live & it does exactly what it's supposed to do. Fastened to the cab nicely, & there was no mic stand to knock over.
-The mic:
This is a great mic for guitar cabinets. Sounds very clear and powerful & does not have a harsh high-end, even with the bright-switch engaged, which is great. The bright-dark switch boosts or cuts the 4k range giving you a nice presence boost for a brighter sound, and the cut setting tames the highs nicely for a mellower sound. It's very easy to throw it up and get a good balanced sound, similar to what you hear in the room. Mic placement is not as critical as it is with the Shure sm57 but I still love both equally. Recording in stereo with the Shure sm57 has got me the best recorded electric guitar sound I've had to date.
-Overall:
Like I said, you get the mic & 2 quality products for the normal price of just the mic; what's not to love.

They have excellent reproduction across all frequencies, from what I can tell, especially in the bass range. In my home studio I created a pop-style mix with a vocal track over multiple orchestral instruments, and these headphone monitors never let me down. The final mix turned out wonderfully.

Pay the extra $$ for the 906 (rather than the 609), because it has three frequency positions (high boost, flat & high roll-off) so you can tweak your sound depending on the guitar amp, cab, wattage, style and venue you play. BTW..."Unique Squared" is THE place to go for this mic: Best Price, Best Service, Super Fast Delivery! The mic comes with a decent pouch, and rubber mic clip, with a thread adapter to fit 2 different size mic stands, (if you decide not to drape the mic.) You may want to use Gaffers Tape if you "drape", and if you end up pushing a lot of "Air". That's to prevent vibrations from bouncing the mic off the speaker grill. I use the new Audix "CAB GRAB1" that clamps on your amp cab, and adjusts to fit different width amps. It has a goose neck to tweak the mics position for finding the sweet spot of the cab. Also, I run the mic through a PreSonus VXP for gigs, but you don't need it with this mic.
