ISP Decimator Noise Reduction Pedal Review

Usually these type of pedals don't work well at all. This pedal gets the job done. For extremely high gain try two - one after the guitar - one after the efx pedals. It actually works.

ISP Technologies presents the latest generation in Noise Reduction technology, the DECIMATORTM NOISE REDUCTION SYSTEM. From the original inventors of HUSHTM noise reduction comes the latest, most advanced, patent pending, state of the art technology in real time noise reduction. The Decimator offers a revolutionary breakthrough in Noise Reduction processing with an unparalleled level of performance. The HUSH system, as well as all other noise reduction systems suffers from one major problem inherent in their design: The system cannot be immediately responsive to very short-term staccato notes. The typical downward expander noise reduction system suffers from a dead zone in the release response characteristic which causes a compromise in tracking both fast decaying notes and long sustained notes. The Decimator design offers a novel approach to tracking the envelope of the input signal called Time Vector Processing. Due to this novel approach in controlling the expander, the Decimator system will instantly respond to short staccato notes and, at the same time, will provide a very slow ripple free control of long sustained notes. This means that the Decimator noise reduction system is the most transparent and highest performance noise reduction system available.

Spectraflex Braided Series Pedal Cable, Dual Right Angle Plugs, 6 Inch, Tweed Review

Spectraflex Braided Series Pedal Cable, Dual Right Angle Plugs, 6 Inch, Tweed
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These six-inch pedal/effect connectors are BURLY! This is lifetime gear as far as I'm concerned, with the highest quality right-angle jacks I've ever seen, a very heavy duty strain relief that completely locks out any uscrewing of the connector (i've had that problem on lower quality right-angle cords/plugs), and of course the spectraflex jacketing.
I haven't been a fan of using spectraflex for each and every cord, because the stiff jacket, in some lengths and for some uses, causes more kinks than it solves, and the cover can get fuzzy over time. But what more could I ask for in a short pedal connection cable? I basically want it to be immortal... a piece of gear that I will never have to question or test or replace, because I know that there's no way the conductors could get damaged short of cutting into it with a knife. These cables live up to that level of expectation. Pedal-to-pedal cords are the ones you're going to fold into tight bends all the time, and what better than this woven jacket to prevent that from crimping the conductors over time. And though the jacket is stiff enough to protect against that, it doesn't resist bending into a U-turn just like you need it to in between pedals.
One warning: The right-angle plugs are so well connected and the jacket and strain reliefs are so strong that these plugs are always going to point in the same direction. If you need them to face opposite directions like a letter "Z" you might want a cheaper cable.

Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe Review

Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I play in 2 bands and I typically use 2 to 3 Basses on stage depending on the band (and the stage). I have always fought with having to dial in the right tone for each Bass every time I switch Basses. The Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe solves that problem. I can preset the 3 main tones I need for 2 Basses and when I switch basses, it just takes a split second to hit the footswitch and I have the exact sound I need. This thing is very easy to setup and has a boatload of other features. Besides the obvious XLR Direct out, it also has a 1/4" Parallel out that is pre-tone controls so you can send your unaltered Bass signal to a Tuner or in my case, another amplifier. It also has an effects loop so you can have your effects setup and just hit one switch and you have the tone you need plus the effects you need. There's a small learning curve and you need some time for trial and error with the tone controls and the drive, level and blend controls if your customizing your own sounds. You can also just use the stock sounds that come pre-programmed and it sounds great. I've had many compliments from band mates as well as fans in the audience about my sound since using the Bass Driver Deluxe. I would definitely recommend the Tech 21 BSDR-DLX SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe for any Bassist. I would also recommend you buy the optional Tech 21 DC2 DC2 Power Supply.

Mod Tone Harmonic Tremor Review

Mod Tone Harmonic Tremor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this pedal and found that it caused severe volume drop when activated, and it does not have a volume/level adjustment. I had to get the nobs to about 75% to really get them to adjust anything also.
I know about effect level sends/returns (I use a Mesa Dual Recto by the way) but I did not feel like I should have to compensate for how much signal this pedal seemed to be soaking up. Higher quality pedals that can be purchased used for less money than this work better and do not kill your signal.
But, like my title says, maybe I was just unlucky and got a bad one. I sent it back for a refund with delivery confirmation (but not insurance...) and the Post Office lost the package. So I no longer have the crummy pedal and Im out 60 bucks.

Aguilar Octamizer Analog Octave Pedal Review

The octamizer is a great little accessory to have, it provides a nice full sound, and is well constructed. It is also very easy to use right out of the box, just throw your 9 volt in and it is read to go. Just got it yesterday so I'm still working out all the different blends. BLUF (Bottom line up front) I would definitely buy this product again and I'm looking forward to utilizing it on a gig!! Someone told me you can't go wrong with Aguilar so soon enough I will be switch my amp from the SWR 750x to the Aguilar DB751 and I can't wait!!

Every bass player wants deep organic tone. The Octamizer\' is the innovative analog octave pedal from Aguilar. Designed to create a wide range of musical sounds an octave below your original note - you will be "octamized"! The Octamizer\' features independent volume controls for both the "Clean" and"Octave" sounds, so dialing in the exact amount of each is a cinch. The two discrete signal paths also have their own tone controls that were specifically designed to enhance and expand their musical possibilities. The "Clean Tone" control uses a Full Spectrum Tilt EQ, allowing for the boosting of treble while cutting bass or boosting of bass while cutting treble. This unique circuit allows you to create a clean sound that creates an octave doubling effect or to blend the sounds together for a great thick, snarky synth tone. The Octamizer's "Octave Filter" control is a multi-pole low-pass Filter that lets you shape the octave sound from smooth and deep to edgy and aggressive.

Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal Review

Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I will admit to not being the most proficient at playing guitar, but I like to "try" and sound like a song if I am learning it via tab or by ear. One thing that has always gotten me is the fact that I just am used to standard tuning or drop D tuning, being that those are the easiest. So what about the Morpheus? Well, I also own a Digitech Whammy Pedal, so I understand taking one string and knocking it down, but the Morpheus Droptune allows for all the strings (at once) to play.
What does all this mean?
Okay, say you like Black Sabbath, Slayer or Slipknot, they all tune down at some point in time, so how to do this, especially if you don't want to spend time re-tuning after you get bored trying to play someone else's sound? Well, as soon as you turn it on, it is a half step down, strum a chord, yep, it's a half step down..then hit the "down" button on the left...yep, down another half step, all the way to three and a half steps. Of course the metal guys drop D, then tune down, so go ahead, do that...you sound like your favorite band. Now the pedal is actually a "cheat"...should you learn to do your own tunings, of course you should. Should you, with a whammy bar, learn how to adjust your guitar? Yes you should...but after years and years of playing and not getting much fulfillment from my lack of "sounding" like the song that I am trying to play, this helped get me in tune right away.
Of course you still have to have a decent ear, make sure your original tuning is good, because I believe my salesperson a Woodwind and Brasswind said this creates polyphonic pitch drops, which looking down at my pedal right now, indeed it says that. Just imagine if something is out of tune without effect, generally from my experience, the sounds don't get better with effects, unless distortion is involved. But you'll still sound terrible if you don't know how to tune your guitar right, sounds really basic, but after seeing that there are guitars with robot tuners out there, I'm pretty sure the art of tuning your own guitar will be gone in a decade too. So just tune clean, no effect on, then turn on the effect.
There is a cool middle button that allows for you to go up a half step while the effect is on, kinda cool, but really just for effect...if you want to build a riff around that, cool, but I believe Tom Morello already did that. Also once the effect is on, you can only go down on the pedal, so this could be an issue for an active on stage guitarist, but I doubt that you'll be kicking your own effects, that is more likely going to be your klutzy singer.
I will recommend this to anyone at all that amplifies their guitar, clean or distorted, but accept the fact that on the clean sounds, you'll get more of an odd sound (slight warble, but it does exist if your are going to tune three steps down....it really does go three steps and a half down. I know...shocking) What I might suggest is learning how to feel comfortable with tuning down a half or whole step on your guitar, then setting the pedal to two whole steps down, I believe your sound will not be degraded on the clean effect.Mine was worth every penny and when I did combine it with my whammy pedal, I was able to create some wicked tones through a line-6 spider III. My "rig" isn't something to "behold" for those with the bucks or the drive to spend every last dollar on guitar related equipment, so if it sounds nice/great on my rig, I can only imagine what it will sound like on a really nice set up. (Not dissing my own stuff, but I do know that there are a lot of people out there with more in-depth set-ups) Buy it...or at least try it out.

Now you can go from one pitch for a particular song to a different pitch on the next without having to retune your guitar or owning two, three or more guitars for various step-down de-tunings.For example, play an E chord in standard tuning, then use this unique pedal to drop tune your guitar so the chord is changed to an Eb, D, Db, C, B, Bb or A.The Morpheus DROPTUNE pedal also features effect toggling so you can instantly toggle back and forth between the dropped pitch and the EFFECT OFF for a cool up/down pitch-shift effect during solos or power chord rhythm patterns. In addition, the DROPTUNE pedal has Full Octave Drop and a great-sounding Octaver.

Planet Waves Tru-Strobe Pedal Tuner w/ True Bypass Review

Planet Waves Tru-Strobe Pedal Tuner w/ True Bypass
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a musician for over four decades I've owned a number of tuners as the technology progressed. My primary instrument is electric bass. This is the finest piece of equipment I've ever purchased and used, and it has helped me solve a 'mysterious' tuning phenomenon all players apparently face without knowing it. I'll explain. But first, some details about the tuner....: it's construction is extremely solid, and it's heft gives it stability. When you place it on a surface (top of your amp, floor, your knee.... it stays there!). Secondly, the large backlit display is very easy to read in all lighting conditions,...no guessing. And thirdly, it is extremely sensitive and accurate, which brings me to my explanation of the 'mysterious tuning phenomenon. At issue is the inability of inexpensive tuners to properly identify frequencies/tones when setting string intonation at the octave fret. I've been using $25 to $40 tuners (Boss, Korg, etc) over the past few years that would indicate a string is in tune, both for open string and octave. But, when simultaneously plucking an 'F' note on the 'A' string, and an 'F' note high up on the 'G' string my ear would percieve that they just weren't in tune....the cycles weren't matching. So, that meant my inexpensive tuner wasn't nearly discriminating enough. Once I began using this strobe tuner, it clearly showed me (with proper accuracy) graphically what my ear was trying to tell me. After setting intonation according to the strobe tuner my bass now 'performs' as it should through the range of notes/frets over the length of the neck. I guess another way of explaining it would be to say that it's like having a GPS that is accurate enough to get you to the right neighborhood, versus one that can get you to the right house. For the money, I feel I've done myself a good turn by purchasing this strobe tuner. I'm satisfied. I still keep one of my inexpensive tuners in my guitar case as it has a built in microphone and can be used by an accoustic guitar player if I'm jamming with somebody. This strobe tuner is 'cable input' only....no mic, runs on a 9v battery with connectors for a power supply (sold separately). My only 'complaint' with this device is the battery connector. It's the typical type that 'plugs' in to the top of your 9v battery with two wires leading to the internals. I hate them as a rule. I would prefer solid contact points and a compartment where you would simply insert the battery, just like inserting any other battery type (AA, AAA, C, etc).

TC Electronic PolyTune Poly-Chromatic Tru-Bypass Pedal Tuner Review

TC Electronic PolyTune Poly-Chromatic Tru-Bypass Pedal Tuner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've used quite a few stage tuners over the years, most recently a pair of Boss TU-2's, excellent tuners in their own right. This tuner beats the Boss units. It offers an incredibly useful but unique feature. Strum your guitar with the strings open and you'll instantly see a curved row of six paired-green dots (plenty bright and easy to see). Any string out of tune will display a pair of red dots immediately below the green ones, thus indicating which if any strings are out of tune. Go to an out-of-tune string and the display immediately changes to an LED-simulated needle display typical of an analog tuner. Tracking is very fast and very accurate. Tuning between songs is a breeze with this thing since you don't have to check each string one at a time; just strum and then tune the strings that need it. When I first got it I did the strum and tune thing and then tested each string with my Peterson VSAM Strobe Tuner as a check - all were spot-on. Add to the speed and accuracy the fact that this is built like a tank and features true bypass, and you've got the best stage tuner available. And with all that, the price is roughly the same as any other good stage tuner. This is one of the best guitar devices out there.

PolyTuneTM is the world's first polyphonic tuner, and a game-changing total tuning turnaround that will have future guitarists wondering how we ever got by without it.It couldn't be done - until we did itThe magic lies in a never before seen approach to tuning aimed at speed, accuracy and ease of use. With PolyTuneTM, you simply strum all strings on your guitar or bass at once, and it will immediately tell you which strings need tuning! This cutting-edge tuning technology revolutionizes the way you tune and accomplishes what has been deemed 'impossible' until now: tuning all strings simultaneously! It really is as simple as strum - tune - rock, and this quantum leap forward allows you to get in tune fast, and back to doing what you love: playing.Strum - Tune - RockProviding an instant overview of the pitch of all your strings, PolyTuneTM is an invaluable tool in live-settings, where it is essential to be in tune quickly and ready to play. Crowds don't want to wait around, they want to rock, and, let's face it, so do you. Besides live use, this stomp box will deliver like no other in any situation where you want to get tuning out of the way and focus on play.Fever PitchEqually effective for guitar and bass, PolyTuneTM is extremely flexible as well. The reference pitch can be set to your preference and ranges from 435Hz to 445Hz. This guarantees you'll be able to play along with anyone, with any instrument and in any situation.Drop it like it's hotIf you are a guitarist that likes to play at a different pitch than standard, this is your go-to pedal, allowing for dropped tunings from E-flat all the way down to B. Whatever your pitch or tuning, PolyTuneTM is a sure-fire way to be spot-on, with an accuracy of just plus/minus 1cent.Chromatic championBesides the Polyphonic tuner, PolyTuneTM has a chromatic tuner that can hang with the best current tuning technology out there, with an amazing 0.5 cent accuracy. But we are never satisfied with the current norm, and added some features to make this tuner's chromatic section stand out from the crowd.Tuning modesLet's start with the two separate chromatic tuning modes, which cater to your individual preferences and needs. Needle mode is for those that are used to the classic view on a tuner. For the people that want a little more real-time information, we have included stream-mode, which measures even the slightest pitch variation and instantly feeds the info back to you via a rotating motion on the display.Tuning MagnetKey to both these great chromatic modes is an ultra-fast and precise response, which is achieved via the use of the unique tuner magnet feature. This slows down the needle once you get close to the desired pitch, making it much easier to get the job done quickly.Total RecallOf course, all of these amazing features would not mean a thing if they were a pain to use or set up. So, we added some traits to ensure this tuner is calibrated to the guitarist. Unlike most other tuners, PolyTuneTM stores your preferences. From pitch reference to tuning mode, it hangs on to this information even after it is powered down, making sure you only have to set how you want things to happen once. The next time you power up again, it will show you the settings, so you instantly know Everything is exactly how you want it to be.Tuning as it should bePolyTuneTM was our chance to build the ultimate tuning tool from the ground up and finally get rid of some of the current tuner drawbacks that guitarists run into time and time again. Tuners have been around for some 30 odd years and we felt it was high time they got in tune with todays guitarists.Design is where beauty and technology meetBut besides all the spearheading features inside the tuner, we took a long hard look at the outside as well, and pushed tuner design to new heights in the process!A strong display of innovationStarting with the display, it instantly becomes clear why PolyTuneTM is lightyears ahead of current tuners. Guitarists that play gigs, will no doubt recognize the nightmare of an unclear display, due to for example bright sunlight, an overeager light technician or a stage smoke machine gone bonkers. What is the Matrix?PolyTuneTM features 17 LEDS which allow for a higher resolution and the LEDs themselves are super bright and focused to ensure optimal visibility at all times. This guarantees the most effortless tuning experience money can buy. And as an added bonus, the 100 LED matrix can give you information right on the display, so you won't have to go dig for the manual mid-gig.Size Matters PolyTuneTM will brighten any pedalboard, and we aren't just talking about the LEDs! Besides looking like a million bucks, its small footprint design means that PolyTuneTM doesn't take up more of your precious pedalboard real estate than absolutely necessary. Spruce the juice Battery changes are a breeze thanks to the one-screw easy access to the battery compartment and when powered by an external 9v DC power supply, the 9v DC out can be used to power other pedals on your board.True Bypass The true bypass feature ensures PolyTuneTM is only there when you need it. It allows for your carefully sculpted tone to flow unaffected when the pedal is bypassed and for silent tuning once engaged. We can't make tuning fun. But we can sure make it a whole lot easier. We want to do our part for the guitar community and truly innovate the life of guitarists. And with PolyTuneTM's extraordinary features and cutting-edge technology, we feel we have accomplished just that. We are passionate guitarists ourselves and we work every single day to make all our lives easier and more rocking. PolyTuneTM Tech SpecsTuning Accuracy:

Behringer CS400 Compressor Sustainer Ultimate Dynamics Effects Pedal Review

Behringer CS400 Compressor Sustainer Ultimate Dynamics Effects Pedal
Average Reviews:

Years ago I owned the Boss version of this pedal. I was happy to find that Behinger's version is virtually identical in sound and operation to the Boss unit. The most important thing is that it's quiet and transparent when not in use. There's only two minor issues that keep it from getting 5 stars. One, the unit is made of plastic. It seems sturdy enough, but it's not metal. Secondly, the power input is on the side next to the input jack. Reaching the power input with your daisy chain power supply could be a little bit more of a stretch than if the input was on the top of the unit, like most pedals. Not a big deal, though. Definitely recommended.

If tone is the name of your game, the COMPRESSOR/SUSTAINER CS400 will add amazing impact to your tone and provide endless sustain.Dynamics play an important role in music. They help to convey emotion, whether it\'s a sultry blues solo or the unrelenting gallop of unfettered metal. But uncontrolled dynamics can take all your best intentions and turn them into so much, well\'mush. That\'s where compression comes in, softening loud sounds and boosting low signal levels to keep everything more uniform. So, a compressor\'s main job is to make every note the same volume.
