I had 25 people over 40 rockin with this Karaoke Machine so my personal experience was positive. With all that being said I would reccomend this item. you dont have to be a kid to have fun with this.

Looks nice, has some extra adjustments compare to cheaper units.
However if you really think if will remove voice from a regular song - it will not.
Like not at all :)
I do not need this feature so I bought it kind of knowing that it will not work.
The reason is that removing voice from a song is extremely complex procedure
and I did not expect this not expensive unit to do it.
So, if you do not need the voice canceling - buy it.
If you need it - do not, but I do not thing that you will find a device at a reasonable price which does it.

(More customer reviews)After reading numerous reviews on amazon my mom and I decided on this one since it has the highest reviews. Great choice, we love it!! My son got this for his 8th birthday. He and my five neices (ages 1 to 8) have really enjoyed it! The handle makes it nice to carry (even by little people) and it's durable. We're trying to build our karaoke music library now. That's the hardest part. And there's not a huge selection of music in stores. I'd recommend buyers to go ahead and get a few good karaoke cd's off amazon and don't forget an extra microphone. Don't get me wrong, it isn't the machine you want if you're looking to set up a booth for a show at a bar or a venue. It's not that powerful. But, it's perfect for home use especially with family. It would even be great for a work party or small setting. Our family of 18 plus gets together almost every weekend and this machine comes out almost every time. The kids LOVE it! Another thing? It's educational!! When you hook it up to your tv, the lyrics are on the screen AND IT PROMOTES READING!! My son is in a rut when it comes to reading but with this machine he will read for an hour reading lyrics. Hey, whatever works!! :) The disco light is great, very bright and you can make it flash or turn it off. The kids sometimes turn off the room lights and sing with the disco lights on only. Simple to hook up to your tv, even the kids do it. We havent' used the MP3 playback yet, I just noticed here that's an option. One thing I'd recommend is to buy TWO MICROPHONES when you buy the machine. It will help for duets and in our case 2 kids grabbing the mic when the chorus comes up. Lots of excitement when you bring this machine out! I don't think I've seen some of the adults smile and laugh this hard in a long, long time. Warning: if you get it, it might bring out your inner kid!! :) Definetly recommend this product. Can't beat the price either!!

(More customer reviews)This is great fun for the kids. It was easy to set up. There's room for two microphones (it comes with one, but you may buy another), and you can add an electric guitar.
I have a Sansa mp3 player, which connected easily and works well, though it doesn't seat in the mp3 holder well. That might hold an IPOD, but I don't know. It sits, but it's not well-seated and can fall out easily.
The mic volume can be controlled up or down and there are independent switches for each mic, but if the volume of the music is turned down, the mic is also turned down. There is no way to turn the mic volume so it is louder than the music. It is possible to turn the music completely off and sing to nothing.
There is an echo option which can be controlled to allow for more or less echo in the voice.
The vocal eliminator function will eliminate vocals from a track at the touch of a button. The vocals are not completely eliminated and the music is a little distorted, but that is to be expected when eliminating vocals from a track. It is not possible to do without a little distortion. It's a nice feature to have so we don't have to go out and buy a bunch of karaoke music.
The biggest drawback to this karaoke system over others is that it lacks the lyrics display. Of course, when using our regular mp3's, we don't have lyrics anyway; but there is no option of getting lyrics display if we wanted it. I simply go find the lyrics on the internet and print them out.
The kids enjoy this microphone. Sometimes, they don't necessarily use it for singing, but it's a fun system and we will get lots of enjoyment out of it as we have already.

I ordered this machine for a party, to be held in two days, and opened the machine to find the cd player stalling and clicking when a cd was inserted (both cd-g's and regular cds did this). I bought it for the USB port, so I could access many songs without dealing with cds, but mp3-g files won't read from the flashdrive I bought for it, so in other words you can only play regular mp3s which don't allow lyrics to be displayed on the screen. I am exchanging it for another one, in the hopes that it was just a bad apple, though based on the other review, I am a little concerned that this is just a bad model.
I am severely disappointed with this one, particularly since I won't get the new one in time for my party. Hopefully I will get a working machine in the exchange.

Emerson 150W CDG/ MP3G Karaoke System - Black (DV121) Review

This is our first karaoke machine and we are very happy with it. Sounds like the other reviewer giving bad marks on the mic output might have a bad unit. We have ours turned up about half way and it's plenty loud. The unit I purchased and received from Electronica Direct was only $197, but it did not say in their description how many watts or what was included with the unit. The owner's manual shows 60 watts and I only received 1 microphone whereas the current description says its a 150W unit for $226. Every other website that had a description (e.g., acekareoke.com) advertised a 150W-unit with two microphones. So I was a little dissapointed, but the unit I received plays both the music and the mics very loud. We are looking forward to years of fun with this unit. I definitely recommend this unit.
