JBL Control 29AV1 Indoor Outdoor Speaker (8 inch, 300 watts, Black) Review

Before you purchase this speaker, you need to realize it's intended application. Unless you've seen this speaker in action, and prefer the sound, you'll probably be able to get "better sounding" consumer speakers for the same price. However, you won't find one that's as robust as this. These are used in many theme parks and commercial applications throughout the world.
The Control 29 is probably the brainchild of JBL Pro's extended speaker lineup from the original Control Contractor line, which originally only included the Control 23, 25, and 28. Along with the SB-210 and the Control 30, these are designed differently from the original line. Unlike it's bigger and smaller siblings, this speaker has underwent two revisions (29AV and 29AV-1). Though it uses an 8" driver, the same size found in the Control 28, the frequency range and overall output is much higher than you'll expect. It also has more suspension options, which include points throughout the speaker, though the Invisiball mount is still included. It also included a more durable grille design than the Control 23, 25, and 28. Accessories are also included with this "premium" speaker, such as a weather resistant cover for the terminals that normally cost around $30 with the small Control speakers. Overall, if you're looking for a weather resistant speaker that's capable of high output, I suggest you take a good look at this speaker. If you need more power, consider looking at the Control 30. If you're looking for less, but still want a good sound, look at the Control 28.

Silvertone SD50N Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Natural Review

Silvertone SD50N Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar, Natural
Average Reviews:

I bought this guitar several weeks ago as a graduation gift because of 2 main reasons:
- solid spruce top
- gold Grover tuners
These are features typically found on guitars selling for much bigger bucks.
When I received it, aside from the fact it did not appear to be new (minor scratches, missing packing etc...but it was in acceptable condition...could have been a "2nd" or a return?), it did not disappoint.
The strings were D'Addario's, the action was good, no fret-buzz, nice tone & plucked harmonics.
The neck, back & sides are not real mahogany...other reviewers here have done an excellent job researching this (see YOYO's review)...it is apparently "nato"...which is a less expensive mahogany-like wood...but it works!
There is at least one Youtube clip on the internet of someone playing this model, and it sounds pretty good...and similar to the one I got.
As a comparison, I have a Takamine/Jasmine S34C, Jasmine by Takamine S34C NEX Cutaway Acoustic Guitar, that cost ~$100, and while it is a perfectly fine base-level guitar, it cannot compete with the SD50N.
If they would include a gig bag for protection, I would give it a full 5-stars...but even without, it is a no-brainer purchase...especially when it is in the Gold Box on sale, like today!
I recommend buying this guitar at any price under $200, without reservation, and also suggest considering a gig bag or case, since you will want to protect this baby!
EDIT: I discovered that they do offer a gig bag package: Silvertone SD50 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Package, and it costs about the same as the guitar by itself...

CAD U37 USB Studio Condenser Recording Microphone Review

CAD U37 USB Studio Condenser Recording Microphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had been researching USB Microphones for a long time and was nervous to make a selection, incase I ended up with a lemon. Well I just heard about this microphone a couple of weeks ago and read up on CAD Microphones. I took the plunge and bought this little beauty. It is made of a plastic casing, but don't let that put you off - this is obviously the trade off in getting a good quality USB for under $100. It's the inside heart of the microphone which makes it a great mic. Yes it is sensitive in picking up background noise, but I don't mind. I love that this mic has the ability to pick up a full texture of sound in the room. I also like that it records with very low background hiss, which is a big problem with integrated mics in laptops.
One important thing to remember with any USB mic is to know how to open up it's settings on your computer. When I first connected the U37 to my computer, it defaulted its input sound level to practically zero. It is in this setting that I have learnt to control the sensitivity of the microphone.
9/10 for this microphone. You won't be disappointed. Peace Out :)

Record studio-quality audio directly to your computer via USB with the CAD U37 side-address condenser microphone--a great choice for both vocal and instruments as well as for creating podcasts and voiceovers for videos. Compatible with both Windows and Mac OS operating systems, you can simply plug the U37 into your PC and start recording.
The U37 has two switches on the front. The first switch allows you to decrease the sensitivity of the microphone so the sound quality is clear for extremely loud sounds. For example, the switch should be in the "-10" position for loud voices, percussion and other high sound pressure level devices. The "0" position should be used for normal voices and string instruments.
The second switch on the U37 is designed to reduce pickup of deep-bass sounds. The switch should be in the "Normal Bass" mode in most cases. However, if you want to remove wind noise, ventilation noise, or decrease the low frequencies in a recording, the switch should be in the "Bass Reduction" position.
