Rode NTK Tube Condenser Microphone Review

Rode NTK Tube Condenser Microphone
Average Reviews:

Great mic - excellent sound. I have been a pro voiceover artist for over 30 years and have dealt with a variety of studio mics. In building my own studio I really wanted a front end that had a clear and smooth full-range sound. The R0de NTK was recommended to me by another "big voice" artist, and completely lives up to the recommendation. Everyone I have talked to says it's about the best value out there. If you have cash to blow, you can get a "noyyyyyymannnnn" (raise eyebrows here), or you can enjoy the sound of this mic and take the extra $3200 and spend it on more gear. The hard plastic padded case for the mic and power supply are a nice touch. Don't forget to buy a shock mount for it!
Enjoy -

Good mic, nice pickup. The mount is a little shaky here and there, but thats mainly because of it being right at the back of the mic. Use a nice weighted stand to keep it steady, and on position, and youre away.

CAD C195 Cardioid Condenser Microphone Review

CAD C195 Cardioid Condenser Microphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been playing/singing since the late 1950's--mostly folk, early country and bluegrass, ragtime and country blues--roots stuff, and I purchased two of these to use as vocal mikes, mostly on my Yamaha Stagepas300 PA. A friend, who also has the Yamaha PA, uses Shure Beta 87a mikes for vocals and, since the CAD C-195 has virtually identical specs, I tried them instead for 1/4 - 1/3 of the lowest prices for the Shures, thinking they might at least be a cost effective alternative to the cheaper Beta 57/58's.
We intend to A/B the two brands at the same time but, so far, I can't say that I hear any real difference between the C-195 and the Beta 87a. I'm in my 60's, my hearing is still acute, but I admit that I could be missing some nuances that most others would also miss. This is a very satisfying set up. I also use two equally good but 'inexpensive' Astatic dual capsule mikes for the instruments. The sound quality (especially at these prices) and the synergy between the various pieces of gear is impressively good--it's perfect for mike-based acoustic solo or small group performances in small venues.
The build quality seems quite rugged, but this is where there might be some advantage with the more expensive Shures. Time will tell, but these have been extremely good values for me.

Audio-Technica Side Address Condenser Instrument Microphone Review

Audio-Technica Side Address Condenser Instrument Microphone
Average Reviews:

I was looking for a microphone that would work well to pick up the barrel of a clarinet. Studied lots of microphones and pickup patterns, microphone types on line. I decided on this microphone because it has a cardoid pickup pattern, and what seems to be an adequate amount of sensitivity to pick up the barrel of the clarinet from about 4 to 5 inches away from the instrument. I probably could use a little more sensitivity, but am concerned about feedback problems, being in an extrememly lively sound stage situation. I tried it at home with an amplifier and small speaker, but have not given it the acid test, which is on stage. Wish me luck!---------Gary

This is a good all around mic. I use these for ovehead drum recording without the need for micing the drums close up. Customer support is outstanding, I lost a part of the mic and was offered to have that replaced at no charge. They didn't have to do that.

LightSnake STUSBXLR10 LightSnake USB Microphone cable Review

LightSnake STUSBXLR10 LightSnake USB Microphone cable
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The cable is fine and if you have a good dynamic mic then you can get a good sound from it. I use a Mac and you do have to go into sounds under preferences to set the mic up properly. Otherwise, with garageband it all worked fine. My only complaint is that it is not made clear anywhere on the packaging or website that this cable does not provide phantom power. So you can't use it with a condenser mic. I just wish this was made more clear to me before buying.

Alesis GuitarLink AudioLink Series 1/4-inch-to-USB Cable Review

Alesis GuitarLink AudioLink Series 1/4-inch-to-USB Cable
Average Reviews:

I bought this cable to interface my electric guitar with my Macbook Pro in order to record using Garage Band.
Simply put, the device seems to technically work, but there is a split second delay between playing and hearing. It may be a half or quarter second delay, but it's enough to completely interfere with my timing while playing. I found it unusable and returned it.
Now I'm using a simple 1/4" to 1/8" mini plug into my computer's line in port without any problems.

Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone Review

Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my video review of the AT2020 USB microphone from Audio-Technica. USB Microphones are made to be plugged in directly to a laptop or desktop. I connected this to a Vista 64 laptop during filming and did the voice over on a Macbook Pro.
Text review:
I give this product a 5 star rating. It is easy to use, high quality and very competitively priced. This is a great desktop mic to use for making podcasts or recording music.
I am not a musician so I am not able to speak to that aspect of the microphones ability. I did use it to make several voice over videos and it performed perfectly. Never a hick-up or any spurious noises heard at all.
I did not include specs into my video review because it would add to the file size and be too small to read here on Amazon's video player.

Regular readers of my reviews know I try to supply specs when necessary.
Here are the specs:
Element:Fixed-charge back plate permanently polarized condenser
Polar pattern:Cardioid
Frequency Response: 20Hz-16,000Hz
Power Requirements: USB power (+5VDC)
Bit depth: 16
Sample Rate:44,000 kHz
Weight: 374g (13.2 oz)
Dimensions: 162.0 mm (6.38") long
52.0mm max body diameter (2.05")
Output connector: USB type
Accessories:Pivoting stand for 5/8"-27 threaded stands, 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 threaded adapter, soft protective pouch, tripod desk stand; 3.1m 10' USB cable
System Reqs: Mac OSX, USB 1.0 or 2.0 64MB RAM minimum. Windows XP Home or professional USB 1.0 or 2.0 64MB RAM minimum.
So for a great USB microphone I recommend this highly!
About the video: After uploading I noticed that Amazon's codec (video compressor) has made the video quality sub-par. I will try to reupload it again with a different codec.
Thank you for watching!
