(More customer reviews)I have owned many wireless systems, both cheap and top of the line. Rackmount, pedals, small receivers, everything. My main wireless system that I used for my guitar rig is an Audio Technica Digital Reference DR series (a guitar center exclusive product) and I love it!
Now that we've established Audio Technica is good stuff: This wireless system was bought as a wireless for my bass rig. I hooked it up to my guitar first however to test it out. Worked great, just as good as my DR. I could tell that the range was close to that of the DR, but a lil shorter and a little more apt to breakup. Also, when I leaned up against the medal siding on my rack, there was a lot of breakup. This isn't important because honestly how much will you be playing leaning up against metal things, but, I was comparing to the fact that my DR doesn't break up...ever...no matter what.
Tone wise the Freeway handles guitar nicely, better than more expensive systems I've owned in fact. And was shocked me was how clear and punchy my bass was through it. I've had a hard time finding wireless systems that would handle bass without distortion and pop. The Freeway was an excellent choice for my bass rig.
A few side notes about the Freeway: 1- it does not come with the 4 prong cable for the transmitter (which is expensive as hell AND quite hard to find usually) 2- Audio Technica is easy to reach, and they have helped me solve problems, however, it took them FOREVER to find out that my DR series was actually just another series with a different name. Made it really hard to help me track down a 2nd transmitter pack. In fact, for about the first 5 calls they just told me the product was out of production and I couldn't get parts for it. 3- I've heard from other guitarists and a review on Musician's Friend that this is the wireless the band Asking Alexandria uses. I could honestly see it, its a helluva system for the money and I would buy another one if need be. Now I don't know how true the claim that AA uses it is, but that is just some info that may help anyone wanting to purchase this product.
All in all, if you're not signed and makin money to buy a $500 Shure system...I'd roll with this :)
