YAMAHA DD55 7 Pad General MIDI Digital Drum System Review

YAMAHA DD55 7 Pad General MIDI Digital Drum System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a drummer in a 5-piece band that plays 2 or 3 times a month. I recently had the opportunity to try out the DD55 and was very impressed. Though I'm not ready to show up at a gig without my conventional set, the DD55 would be great for practicing with headphones or for taking to a rehearsal when I don't want to lug my set. It has a nice feel to it, the sound is good, there are lots of options, and it's just plain fun. And it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like some of the electronic drums do.

USB Roll Up Drum Kit for Free Play or Learning Game Review

USB Roll Up Drum Kit for Free Play or Learning Game
Average Reviews:

This is the Dream Cheeky USB drum kit. Buyers must be prepared for one quirk: the product stinks. Literally. It smells similar to a tire store but worse. If you're going to give this as a gift, I suggest removing it from the box to air it out before passing on.
The software is easy to install, starts up quickly, and is somewhat easy to use. I wish it had a mode like guitar-hero for practice. (At least, I haven't found such a mode.) It comes with various loops and beats and has graphics reminiscent of GH.
The pad itself is small and sensitive to hands as well as drumsticks. I bought this for my young son, but I think even an adult player would find it useful/fun.

Audix I5 Dynamic Instrument Microphone Review

Audix I5 Dynamic Instrument Microphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This mic is your standard dynamic instrument mic. There is nothing revolutionary about it, but I can say that it sounded better than the old reliable SM57 on snare drum. It sounded pretty good on a guitar cabinet, also - a bit better than the SM57 in that application also. It's $10 more expensive than the SM and I would say it's worth the extra change.

Shure DMK5752 Drum Microphone Package Review

Shure DMK5752 Drum Microphone Package
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you're doing live sound or a budget, or just starting to get into decent recording gear, this is definitely not a bad place to start. You can put an SM57 in front of just about anything and get a usable sound. A lot of people love them on snare's and guitar cabs, and get fantastic sounds from them. I'm sure you could get BETTER sound from other mics, but it's a very versatile mic, and is a great bang for your buck. It would never hurt to have 3 in your mic locker... especially if you're doing live sound. I haven't used mine live so I can't comment on the included rim mounts as I use stands in the studio, but they seem like they'd get the job done.
Given the choice, I'd probably prefer to own an AKG D112 over the Beta 52... but I couldn't pass up the price of this pack. I have both, and use them for different things, depending on the sound I want. I'm definitely not complaining about the Beta 52. I'm super happy with it, and it definitely has its place in the studio and venue. The Beta 52 is less expensive... especially if you buy it in this pack. So why limit yourself to one kick mic? Start with this pack, and if you feel like you need another mic down the road when you have extra cash, get a different one. The more the better. If your goal is to mic a drum kit on a budget, get these and a budget pair of small diaphragm condensers for overheads (MXL 603s perhaps), and you're set. If you know exactly what you want and don't mind spending a bit more, buy different mics. If you're on a budget (studio OR live), are just getting into the realm of decent gear and need a starting point, or happen to be searching for a few SM57's and a Beta 52, this is the package for you!

ION IED12 PRO SESSION Electronic Drum Set Review

ION IED12 PRO SESSION Electronic Drum Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I searched a long time before deciding to buy this particular drum set. I am a beginning drummer who Has an Acoustic set at Church. I wanted to practice at home but tearing down and lugging an acoustic set of drums home and back every weeek was not going to fly. (and I'm sure my neighbor would not appreciate the loud sound of the drums) So I searched and searched and searched online and at the local music store (who wanted $900 bucks for a similar set) and I made the decision on this one because of the price mainly. I was skeptical at first and kept my receipt and all parts handy just in case i needed to return this and......
The product is great. There are no problems with the wiring or foot pedals or anything. It does not have a "cheap" feeling to it either. physically speaking, it looks like a 500 or even 600 dollar equipment. The only thing that takes it down a notch for me is that you miss having a separate ride pad and crash pad. (they only give you one choice, either a ride or a crash) but fortunately you can buy a separate crash/ride cymbal and install it into the main brain. another disappointment is that it seems that you cannot add a splash cymbal pad if you wanted to. (oh well you can't have it all for this price)
When i practice, i do so in my living room which is not very large. My wife stated that it sounds as if i am striking phone books with drumsticks when i practice with the headphones on. This is a major plus because I have neighbors and i do not want to disturb them with my drumming nor do I want to announce to the neighborhood that I have a drum set in my house. (break-ins) It comes with a port where you can plug in speakers and play out loud also if need be. The variety of sounds are also fun too. I have not ventured deep into what the brain can do but so far I am far form being unimpressed
Even though the price is lower than other drum sets which can cost you 600-1500 and up. This one is not cheaply built. All of the parts and arms and body of the drum set is stable. My curious cats have already tipped it over, but no broken parts or anything like that. Overall I believe that if you are a beginning drummer like myself, this is the perfect low cost quiet set for you.

Remo Kids Percussion, Floor Tom, 10 Diameter with Mallet, Rain Forest Fabric Review

Remo Kids Percussion, Floor Tom, 10 Diameter with Mallet, Rain Forest Fabric
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this for our two year old music loving boy. He LOVES this drum. This is not a fake toy drum that sounds terrible and will break in a few months. Remo is a respected maker of amateur and professional drums for adults, so this is a real instrument. It sounds good and is very sturdy. And most of all, toddlers LOVE it.

Kids don't have to work, so why not let them bang on the drum all day? This colorful, 10-inch kid's floor-tom is a great solution. Its compact size makes it just right for classroom drum circles, and it can be played with hands, the included mallets, or drumsticks.

The drum is made using ACOUSTICON shell material, for excellent projection capabilities and enhanced low-pitched fundamentals. Added benefits are strength, weather-resistance and reduced weight. The head uses the same material as Remo's FIBERSKYN 3 drumheads, for warm, full tones, with plenty of resonance and sustain. That may not concern your young player just yet, but nonetheless, they'll have a quality instrument for learning about rhythm, which is the foundation of all music making.
Remo Kids Percussion The Remo Kid's Percussion Collection gives children exciting ways to make music and discover rhythm with their very own instruments. Remo Kid's Percussion instruments have received the prestigious Oppenheim Gold Seal Toy Awards for product quality.

Core X2 AC-A20R 12-foot Instrument Cable Review

Core X2 AC-A20R 12-foot Instrument Cable
Average Reviews:

Fist this cable measures 20ft and not 12ft.
Second, it is an excellent quality cable.
Worth every penny IMO.
IMO, the "acoustic cable design" brings interesting detail out of any electric guitar.
Consider this quality cable before you consider new pickups or a new guitar!

As serious musicians know, acoustic instruments unlike their electric counterparts must often reproduce a very wide range of frequencies from deep lows to extended highs. An acoustic instrument cable must therefore be designed much differently than ordinary electric instrument cables. With this concept in mind Core X2 carefully selected three separate wire gauges that were specifically created to reproduce well-defined lows, mids and highs and combine them together to provide the utmost tonal balance for the guitar. Core X2 use 99.99% oxygen-free copper which has far less crystals per foot than ordinary commodity copper and thus less obstacles for signal to cross so that the guitar delivers a natural clean, pure tone with less loss and minimal distortion. Wrapped with audiophile grade components in a flexible argyle patterned woven jacket and paired with gold plated connectors encased in detailed hardwood make it a distinct accessory that is image oriented and technologically pure. Core X2 Professional Acoustic Cable is made for professional and home studio and stage.
