(More customer reviews)I bought this amp on clearance at Guitar Center for $80. (usd). When I got it home and plugged it in, I was less than impressed. The tone was flat and when cranked the distortion was harsh and non musical. The next day, I replaced the (worthless) Sovtek 12ax7 preamp tube and el84 power tube with an Electro Harmonix 12ax7 ($12.) and JJ el84 ($21.).....instant difference....the tone was warmer and after a few hours of playing the cheap plastic coated speaker (almost) sounded ok..still not satisfied I looked at replacement speakers...I found an AMAZING sounding speaker from warehouse guitar speakers, a "Veteran 10" 10 inch, seamed paper cone speaker...some think it to be tonally superior to the Vintage 30....HOLY SMOKES!!! It is like a new amp...serious tone! I can not stop playing through it....all said, $80, plus $33 in tubes and $41. for the speaker (yes, only 41.) at roughly $150...this amp went from a dud to an amazing little tone monster....I am completely satisfied! (after a little tweeking)
