Our producer uses Monster in his studio. I've always used Monster and the warranty can't be beat. My ears are still good enought to tell the difference between these and Live Wire. Whenever a cable gets damaged or questionable I take it back in to a dealer for an exchange...NO QUESTIONS ASKED! My only suggestion to Monster would be to have more choice in lengths for our rack mounted gear.

I got these cables to hook up a sequencer to my Peavey mixer, but Guitar Center wanted $35 a piece for them! Color me surprised when I found them here for $12.50 each. You do have to purchase them separately, but that is true of almost all professional grade audio cables. And let's not forget the sound, the quality is just what you'd expect from Monster, with crystal clear highs and no interference. Great for home musicians or producers, and just what I needed to improve my setup.

Monster S100-I-12 Standard 100 1/4-Inch Instrument Cable (12 Feet)
Average Reviews:

Monster is known for good quality cables but also for being pretty expensive, so I was suprised to see that these cables were only running $20 for 12 ft. and $25 for 21 ft.
I didn't bother looking at them at Guitar Center as I just thought, I'm sure they're nice but I won't even bother looking at the price. The sales rep recommended them when I asked about some quality cables and told me about their lifetime guarantee. I'm tired of cables going on the fuzz and having to buy new ones only 2-3 yrs. after purchase so after seeing the price, I went for it.
End result, they work perfectly. I was having some buzz and noise from my older cables but that's all gone now. The Monster cable sounds clean and clear. No more background interference.
If you'll notice from the picture, Monster wisely chose to cover the bottom of the plug with a nice rubber cover. No more of those metal covers that unscrew, allowing dirt and dust to get in there. Those things caused alot of trouble for me over the years and I'm glad to not have to mess around with them anymore. The blue stripe is one of a few different color bands, which are included, that you can use to color code your cables with. So you can color each one for each purpose. Good feature.
I like this cable and it's good to know that it'll be replaced for free forever under normal use and wear and tear. I've stayed away from Monster for home theater as their audio/video cables are outrageously over priced. But for playing guitar, I think I have my new brand. Recommended.

As with all Monster Cable products, this is expensive. However, in this case I think it is worth the expense. The cable is solidly build, and the connections are very positive. There is no noise associated with either oxidation on the connector, or weak cable to connector soldering. Also, there is a lot of EM interference where I play, and I have noticed that there is absolutely no 60HZ hum when using this cable, showing that it is well shielded and grounded. I will probably buy another.

In case you are looking at this and wondering how a bass cable could cost SO much, allow me to enlighten you as to its greatness. The Monster Bass Cable is an excellent piece of equipment, and really is the only cable bassists should be playing with. I honestly have no clue why so many people prefer stuff like Planet Waves cables, since I've seen so many of those things totally [...] out at random. The monster is nearly indestructible, and therefore extremely reliable. I have damaged a couple of these things and they still worked. It sounds great, very natural and full. The difference in sound from a regular guitar cable is subtle. For example, you might not notice a huge difference upon using it for the first time, but if you use it for a while and then switch back to a lesser cable, I think the difference will become clear. The free replacement Monster guarantee is just about the greatest policy in the history of gear, and I've used it a couple times now. This free policy guarantees that no matter what happens to your Monster cable, they'll replace it for free. I could go into the store, buy one, chew it apart right in front of the cashier, and they'd replace it no questions asked. You can even see the quality in Monster products if unscrew the sheath near the jack. Unlike so many cheap, sketchily assembled cables, the Monster looks as perfect as it is. In short, the only way you shouldn't buy this is if you would rather be stuck endlessly replacing cheap cables. It's money well spent that you'll never have to spend again.

I was skeptical of getting this cable at first, I thought that a cable was a cable and it didn't really matter to much what you use. I was wrong. Upon opening the package, you can feel the quality of this cable, it is thicker, stronger, and better looking than any other bass cable I have seen. When I plugged it in, I immediately noticed that my bass sounded better. It sounder fuller, and more bassy. The cable doesn't change your tone, it makes whatever tone you use sound better. Even my tone deaf dad said that the cable "makes it sound a little better", I say it makes it sound a lot better. While it is a bit on the expensive side, it is worth the money. The life time warranty is definitely a positive aspect.
A final note, this is not the exact cable that I got. I needed the 21 foot cable. If you don't need that much cable, save some money and get the 12 footer. Get the combination of options that works for you. Whatever you choose though, this cable will not disappoint.

Monster M ROCK-12 1/4-Inch Rock Instrument Cable (12 Feet) Review

Monster M ROCK-12 1/4-Inch Rock Instrument Cable (12 Feet)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The biggest question I ask about these cables, are they worth the premium charged above more normal cables? The key to me is the lower end 100 series Monster cables, Monster S100-I-12 Standard 100 1/4-Inch Instrument Cable (12 Feet). The answer is mixed, and depends on what you are looking for.
The cable ends are very heavy, they are metal and do unscrew. In some ways this is probably good, they feel good in your hand plugging and unplugging. The jacks are gold plated and look like they would last a lifetime. On the other hand, the series 100 plugs are a molded plastic end, with a good bit of flex to them, and they are lighter weight. So the choice is, heavy, shiny gold; or light weight, gray/black? For me, I like the heft of these cables.
Construction-wise these are likely lifetime cables. Check out the pictures I've posted. The metal housing screws into the jack. There is an O-ring to seal the top portion of the threads. Inside the wires are soldered solidly to the jack, and then the whole thing is cast in solid acrylic or plastic. Unless you run over this end with a truck or pulled really really hard like tug of war, the wire is never separating from the jack. I don't think the actual 1/4 inch jack is any sturdier than other jacks.
Sound is excellent. They are clear clean cables. Are they better than the 100's? Oh maybe a tiny bit. Maybe a little clearer, cleaner sound. But it isn't a huge difference.
Bottom line, for gigging, probably go with the 100's. The jack ends will get stepped on at some point and they are cheap enough to replace. For practice or in your house, these are probably the way to go. They do look particularly good plugged into a Marshall half stack.
These cables are not outrageously over priced like everything else Monster Cable. Study different one quarter inch jack cables and you'll see these are priced very close to everyone else. This is not the case of the HDMI cables at the big box store for fifty times what you should pay for them.

I've been performing for years and the last thing you need when on stage is having an equipment failure. That's why it makes sense to pony up the extra money for a Monster cable as instrument cables are a common failure point. I've been using all Monster cables for both my guitar and my bass rigs for the last four years and I have no complaints. These cables are very sturdy, even though I have had a couple fail on me. One time the cable end fell apart, which I think was a fluke, like a "lemon" chord, the other time was due to abuse caused by me. ( Bass cabinet loaded into the truck with the speaker cable still in the back, got laid on it's back and the cable end got bent off)
The best thing about Monster cables is that they have a life time guarantee, really no matter WHAT happens to them. In both cases I simply took the broken cables up to a Guitar Center and they were replaced, with no questions asked or even receipts. This is my first time ordering from Amazon, but I understand that GC will replace these cables the same way, either way, the lifetime guarantee and the sturdy build of these cables as well as the great sound with no hissing, pops or cracks make them a sound investment.
Keep in mind when ordering that Monster makes their cables instrument specific. They have one cable designed for bass guitars, another designed for guitar and another designed for your head to speaker. For the best sound response, pay attention to this when ordering.
You might pay a little more but the peace of mind and the great quality of these cables is worth it. Also, for this 21 footer GC charges about $49.00 so I saved $15 or so going through Amazon.

My old cable was noisy. Every time it was touched or handled it was heard as clearly through the amp as the guitar was. This cable adds noticeable punch and clarity, as well as added volume in my opinion. There is absolutely NO handling noise while moving about with them. They are heavy duty, and should last for years to come. If you play bass, you owe it to yourself to have a set of these cables, if you play regular guitar, get the ones suited for that. These are dedicated bass cables, frequency ranges and responses are fine tuned for low-end. Though they would probably work fine for other guitars/uses, get the cable specified for those applications. This could be the last bass cable you ever need to buy if you take care of it.

I'm a keyboard player, and in the past I had been spending $40-$60 for Monster's "delegated" keyboard cables. But suddenly one shorted out on me after only several months use, causing me to question the "Monster mystique." I began to compare the Monster keyboard cables with cheap, "off-brand" guitar cables and couldn't hear any difference. No question it's a well-made, trustworthy (but not indestructible or infallible) cable, but I'm no longer committed to it at any price. However, at Amazon's current "value" price for this particular Monster cable, it's a no-brainer. Moreover, I no longer have hesitations about purchasing a cable that doesn't say "piano" or "keyboard" on it. (One of my Monster keyboard cables even came with one end designated for the amp and the other for the instrument--but it was hard to see which was which in a dimly lit club.)
As for length, 6 feet is ideal if you're playing through your own amp (my preference). If you're plugging into a board or P.A. system, you'll want anywhere from 12 feet to 25 feet.
