Monster Bass Instrument Cable 8 in. - angled 1/4 plugs M BASS-.75DA Review

Monster Bass Instrument Cable 8 in. - angled 1/4 plugs M BASS-.75DA

Our producer uses Monster in his studio. I've always used Monster and the warranty can't be beat. My ears are still good enought to tell the difference between these and Live Wire. Whenever a cable gets damaged or questionable I take it back in to a dealer for an exchange...NO QUESTIONS ASKED! My only suggestion to Monster would be to have more choice in lengths for our rack mounted gear.

this is a really good cable that does a great job at retaining your guitar's tone. The cable is a little stiffer than other cables I've used before, but it does its job just fine. Whether practicing or playing smaller bar gigs, I've had no problem with the length, rigidity or durability, and its a a little flashier than a basic black cable. I'd highly recommend this cable to anyone looking for an instrument cable.

Whirlwind Imp 2 Transformer Direct Box Review

Whirlwind Imp 2 Transformer Direct Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is one of the whirlwind DI products. Unique thing is that it doesn't have output level change switch to -20dB or -40dB. I think this product is fixed at -20dB as standard. I am not sure how this product is designed for better quality with fixed output level but its price is pretty higher than that of Whirlwind EDB1. This product($39.99) has no defect as they advertised on their web but I recommend if you want to save money "whirlwind EDB1"($28.77) is better; if you want better quality "Whirlwind director Passive DI"($59.95) is good. This product is between and I don't know its quality. Returning was cumbersome and it works so I am using but next time I will choose one of those two I recommended. That is why I gave 4 star.

The IMP 2 converts a line or instrument level unbalanced signal to a low impedance mic level balanced signal. Whirlwnd IMP 2 Features: 1/4 inch parallel wired in and out jacks Ground Lift switch to help isolate hum and buzz Uses Whirlwind's TRHL transformer It's the ideal direct box for anyone requiring professional quality and durability in an economical package. Shure Beta 98H/C Clip-On Cardioid Instrument Microphone Review

Shure Beta 98H/C Clip-On Cardioid Instrument Microphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been using this microphone for a number of professional performances over the last seven or eight years. The Shure Beta has one of the best quality sounds and pick up of any microphone I've ever used. Clamping it to the bell of my saxophone allows movement without being tied to stationary microphone stand. The only issue has been the thin cable that connects it from the clip to the XLR connector. It doesn't take much to damage it (this is the second one I own) and over the years, it obviously wears faster than an ordinary microphone/cable. The result is that the longer you own it, the more careful you have to be or else you'll have a crackle and pop everytime you move the wrong way. It's a shame they can't improve on the design of the otherwise amazing microphone. I've tried to compensate by leaving the cable wrapped in the reel (taped up) with only enough length required to get the clip from my waist to the bell of the saxophone which has helped extend the life this long. I'm getting ready to replace it again and I'm thinking about shifting to a wireless.

The Beta 98H/C premium cardioid condenser instrument microphone that clamps onto the bell of wind instruments or onto the rim of percussion instruments, and its transformerless preamplifier circuitry improves linearity across the full frequency range. The pickup pattern of the BETA 98H/C provides high gain-before-feedback and excellent rejection of unwanted noise. Its high maximum sound pressure level (SPL) enables it to handle the extreme demands of brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.
The integrated gooseneck and ratcheting swivel joint allows the mic to be easily positioned and secured, and an isolation shock-mount reduces the transmission of instrument "key noise" and other mechanical noise. A gooseneck angle brace is included to provide better retention of the microphone placement during more active performances.

Key Features
Transformerless preamplifier circuitry that improves linearity across the full frequency range.
Pickup pattern provides high gain-before-feedback and excellent rejection of unwanted noise.
High maximum sound pressure level (SPL) enables it to handle the extreme demands of brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.
10-foot high-flex cable with attached preamplifier (XLR connection)
Tailored frequency response for open, natural sound reproduction
Compact, lightweight construction provides a low degree of visibility
Gooseneck, ratcheting swivel joint and gooseneck angle brace allow for optimum placement and fixed positioning

Applications and Placement The most common BETA 98H/C applications and placement techniques are described below. Keep in mind that microphone technique is largely a matter of personal taste; there is no one "correct" microphone position.
Saxophone Placement: Clamp the microphone onto the bell of the saxophone, so the microphone is a few inches from and facing into the bell. This will produce a bright tonal balance while minimizing feedback and leakage.
Soprano Saxophone Placement: Clamp the microphone onto the bell of the saxophone and adjust the gooseneck so the microphone is facing the keys of the instrument, a few inches from the lower keys. This will produce a warm and full tonal balance. For a brighter tone, adjust the gooseneck so the microphone is facing into the bell, a few inches away.
Trombone Placement: Clamp the microphone onto the bell of the trombone and adjust the gooseneck so the microphone is facing directly into the bell, a few inches away. This will produce a bright tonal balance while providing maximum isolation.
Trumpet Placement: Clamp the microphone onto the bell of the trumpet and adjust the gooseneck so the microphone is facing directly into the bell, a few inches away. This will produce a bright tonal balance while providing maximum isolation.
Drum Placement: Clamp the microphone onto the drum rim and adjust the gooseneck so the microphone is aiming a few inches above the drum head and an inch from the rim. This provides a full tonal balance.

Casio CTK-3000 Premium Pack with Power Supply, Keyboard Stand and Professional Closed Cup Stereo Headphones Review

Casio CTK-3000 Premium Pack with Power Supply, Keyboard Stand and Professional Closed Cup Stereo Headphones
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I really don't think I could have found a better keyboard at the price of the Casio CTK3000. After much research, I decided on this keyboard because of the number of keys and the fact that it came with a stowaway stand, headphones and charger. For me, an adult who is just learning piano, it was essential for me to have headphones so I wasn't disturbing everyone in the house. The keyboard is really easy to use. I didn't even read any of the instructions. I just plugged it in and started practicing.
The stand is a little difficult to adjust and it doesn't attach as securely to the stand as I would like it to, but it's not unstable or anything. The keyboard sort of just sits on top of the stand. This is not a problem for an adult, but if you're looking at getting this keyboard for a child, then you may want to take that into account. This keyboard also works great on a regular table, as long as you have one that is at an appropriate height for practicing. I use the keyboard on the tabletop more than I use it on the stand, but I'm glad I have the stand for those times that I do need to use it.
The keyboard also comes with a little bar that you insert into the back of the keyboard to hold your sheet music or lesson book. There is a groove at the top center of the keyboard to prevent the sheet music/book from slipping. I found that the other reviews I read and the product description didn't note that the keyboard does have a space to hold music. Of course that may be something that is just standard on keyboards, but, as a piano novice, I was not aware of this.
Bottom line, I think this keyboard is excellent quality for the price and will last a beginner quite a while.

Send play data from the keyboard to music software running on yourcomputer, or send MIDI data from your computer to the keyboard for playback.
Built-In SamplingYou can use the CTK-3000 to sample a sound from a portable audio player or other device, and then play the sound with keyboard keys. For example, you could sample the bark of your dog and then use the sound in a melody, or grab passages from a CD. The sampling feature is a fun way to create new sounds.
Note: Samples are not stored permanently. Turning off power will cause any sampled sound data on the keyboard to be deleted.
110 Built-In Songs With Step Up LessonsThe CTK-3000 comes with a bank of songs for your learning and enjoyment, from classics like "Greensleeves" or "Auld Lang Syne" to holiday tunes like "Jingle Bells."

The CTK-3000 features a "Step Up Lesson" feature that helps you to do just that. The built-in songs are pre-divided into phrases to help you master keyboard play. Step Up Lesson takes you through practice of the right hand part, left hand part, and both hand parts for each phrase of a song. Master all of the phrases and you master the song.

I needed a longer cable, and I was looking for good quality without breaking the bank. I read lots of reviews about the super expensive cables that supposedly made a drastic improvement in the sound from the instrument, and I checked out the endless varieties of cables available from all the online music retailers who sell the high end cables as well as the el-cheapo ones. I wasn't familiar with Spectraflex, and you won't find their products on sale from your usual music retailers. So I checked out their website, and I was impressed with their offerings and the fact that their only business is making cables, and maybe also that they don't mass market. This cable is not their top of the line, but it works great (I think I can honestly say it sounds a little bit better than my other quality cable that is half its length). I would not hesitate to buy another Spectraflex cable. In my opinion they make an excellent product at a reasonable price.

Average Reviews:

I already owned the right angle vintage version in brown for my Epiphone Sheraton semihollow guitar. That cable is also 10 ft long and it has gold connectors that match the gold plated hardware on the guitar.
I recently discovered that my well-used Pro Co Lifeline cable was microphonic when I plugged it into a Jimi Hendrix fuzz face running into a Fender Vibro Champ. I was bummed and I order the Green Fatso 10ft cable. It works great and is still nice and flexible even with the increased durability. It has black connectors and it looks great with my emerald green PRS Custom 24.
These cables go on SALE regularly and the prices are so low that I ordered two new ones in new colors as backups for the 2 I currently own.
Highly Recommended!

After suffering through crackles, lost signals, and all the rest, I decided to heed the numerous positive reviews of the Spectraflex tweed cable and purchase one through Amazon.com. Because the new acoustic-electric classical I received as a gift has an end-pin outlet, I bought the Spectraflex with the right angle connector. Although I have been using the cable for only a few weeks, I am very impressed. The connections on all the guitars and basses on which I've used it are sure, with no loss of signal, no crackles. Perhaps most impressive is the fact that I can turn the right angle connector around and never have any change of signal. Finally, I can be confident that when I play, something will consistently come out of the amplifier. By the way, the old-school tweed look is a plus, too.
