I play acoustic instruments (guitar and dobro) so when I wanted more volume for a lead I had to reach over to my pre-amp(mounted on my mic stand), increase the volume, play, them reverse it for backup. With this pedal, I set the increase I want and step on the switch. There's no pop when it goes on or off, it just provides the increased volume I need. Simple, easy, and exactly right. I hate stuff that doesn't do what it's supposed to, or is overly complicated. This thing I love and use regularly. I use the AC adapter so I am not sure how hard it is on batteries, but if it took a new one every night it would still be worth it., But, you get the adapter with the pedal so you don't need to buy anything else. If you need what this thing does, just buy it... you won't regret your purchase.
