As a guitarist that was used to using the on board volume to bust open the floodgates of power from my amplifiers, I wanted to find a pedal that gave me options so that I could shape my sound at a lower volume and then raise the volume as need be. I was initially pretty thrilled with the pedal and believed it would have a place in my pedal board...then, I had some reservations...
Short and to the point, Eagletone (Biyang) do not make an adapter for their pedals. (Personally, I thought this rather odd.) A regular 9 volt adapter will not work with this pedal either. Thankfully, Danelectro has the D-1 9 volt adapter which is rated at 9.6 volts and it works great. If you buy this pedal or any other pedal made by this company, get a Danaelectro D-1 adapter.
This pedal has options (Normal/Max/Turbo) on a mini toggle switch. IMHO, Max had more of an edge than Turbo, but knowing that in advance, it's easy to adjust and use. Basically, it's three Rat distortion clones in a box...
I do like it and I can see that given time to tweak it and find the sweet spot for each position of the toggle, I will use it.
Had the company made their own power adapters or at least made the use of something more universal possible, I'd have given it 4 stars...
Had the audible difference in positions on the toggle switch been consistant, it's a 5 star pedal.
