(More customer reviews)I bought this pedal because it was relatively inexpensive, it got decent reviews, and it is analog delay controlled digitally (a hybrid). I've had it for 48 hours now and have taken it through it's paces.
Delay is not my main effect (in fact, this is the first delay pedal I've ever owned, although I demo'd a few including Aqua Puss, Ibanez, and a Boss DD-3). I wasn't looking for long delay times, just something to fatten up chords and solos and maybe a little slapback once in a while. This pedal does all those things and more. An option for longer delay times would be nice but truthfully I'd probably rarely use them.
This pedal produces a nice, warm analog delay that does slightly darkens the tone, which isn't necessarily a bad thing with most modern, bright sounding amps. It seems fairly solidly built, although like any pedal from any manufacturer there's bound to be a few lemons out there. Battery access is a bit of a pain since you have to unscrew four tiny screws on the bottom. I can see dropping one of the screws on a dark carpet or a poorly-lit stage and never finding it. These slight detractions prevented me from giving this pedal 5 stars but I'd still recommend it for certain applications.
No instructions came with it but it's all self-explanatory if you've ever used an effect pedal before. If not, the knobs are labeled simply ("Repeat" "Time" and "Mix") and it is very easy to dial around and come to grips with its capabilities rather quickly.
I'm not a pedal freak at all. I really only use a tuner and a Boss OS-2 and now this ModTone. I have to say I'm happier with my tone now. Only time will tell if this pedal proves reliable but so far so good. BTW: I pay a '72 Tele Custom into a Peavey Classic 30.
